口広き茶入の茶をは酌といふ
せはき口をはすくふとそいふ
いと茶碗ふくは底よりふきあかれ
かさねてうちへ手はやらぬもの
しめさゝる茶巾出さはゆを少し
こほし残してあらふときく
我飲しすゝぎの跡をいたゝきて
のむはあやまるあしらひときく
炭を置くならひ計にかゝはりて
ゆのたきらする炭はけし炭
炭おくはたとひ習ひにそむくとも
ゆのよくたきる炭そ炭なれ
客になり炭をくならはいつとても
焼物なとは客たりぬもの
客になりそことるならはいつとても
いろりの角をくつしかくすな
炭をかは五徳はさむな十文字
ゑんをきらすなつり合をしれ
くつれたる白炭あらは捨ておけ
またよの炭を置ものそかし
現代語訳
口の広い茶入れの茶は「酌む」という
狭い口は「すくう」というのである
糸茶碗を拭くのは底から拭き上げ
重ねて内へ手はやらないものである
湿らせた茶巾を出すには湯を少し
凍らせ残して洗うと聞く
自分が飲んだすすぎの跡をいただいて
飲むのは誤った扱いと聞く
炭を置く習いばかりにこだわって
湯がよく沸かない炭は消し炭である
炭を置くのはたとえ習いに背くとも
湯がよく沸く炭こそ炭である
客になって炭を継ぐ習いではいつでも
焼き物などは欠けたりするものである
客になって炭を取る習いではいつでも
囲炉裏の角を靴で隠すな
炭を替えるとき五徳を挟むな、十文字に
縁を切らすな、釣り合いを知れ
崩れた白炭があれば捨てておけ
また夜の炭を置くものである
