風炉にては炭をく物と見ぬとても
見ぬこそなをも見ると知るへし
客になると風爐のその内見る時は
炭くつれなむ気遣をせよ
墨跡をかくる時にはたくぼくを
勝手のかたへおほかたはひけ
くつれたるその白炭をとりあけて
またも又をく事はなきもの
絵の物を懸る時にはたくほくを
印あるかたへ引とこそきけ
夏手前かならすかまに水さすと
一すしにいふ人はあやまり
夏なりとゆのたきらすはふたしめむ
なとあやまりにならはならまし
水指に手桶出さはふた
まへのふたとりさきに重ねよ
つるへをは手を竪にをふたとらは
くむかたとりてわきへかさねよ
小板にて茶をたつる時茶巾をは
小板のはしに置物そかし
現代語訳
風炉では炭を継ぐ様子を見ないとしても
見ないことこそ、なおさら見ていると知るべきである
客になって風炉の内を見る時は
炭が崩れないよう気遣いをせよ
墨跡を掛ける時には卓袱を
勝手の方へ大方は引くものである
崩れたその白炭を取り上げて
また再び置くことはないものである
絵の物を掛ける時には卓袱を
印のある方へ引くと聞く
夏の手前で必ず釜に水を差すと
一律に言う人は間違いである
夏だからといって湯が沸かないのに蓋を閉めるのは
何と間違いになってしまうことか
水指に手桶を出すには蓋を
前の蓋を取り先に重ねよ
釣瓶は手を縦にして蓋を取れば
汲む方を取って脇へ重ねよ
