床にまた古今集なとかさりなは
外に歌書をはかさらぬと聞
外題あるものゝ本なと見る時は
こうしやに外題見せて披けよ
香箱かくはんか羽箒かさりなは
右羽左り羽吟味してをけ
名物の茶碗出たる茶の場には
少し心得かはるとそしれ
朝会に数寄屋の内は行燈に
夜会なとにはたんけいを置
燈に油をつがばおほくつげ
客にあかさる心得としれ
燈に陰とやうとの二つあり
朝をはいんに晩とやうふむ
いにしへの夜会なとには床へまた
懸物花もなきとこそきけ
冬なとは炭もふくへに柄の火箸
木地香合に焼物ときく
絵にもまたひたり右むき真向あり
されとも床の勝手にもよる
現代語訳
床の間にまた古今集などを飾るならば
他に歌書は飾らないと聞く
外題のある本などを見る時は
亭主に外題を見せて開けよ
香箱を飾るなら羽箒を飾るならば
右羽左羽を吟味して置け
名物の茶碗が出た茶の席には
少し心得が変わると知れ
朝の茶会に数寄屋の内は行燈に
夜会などには短檠を置く
灯に油を注ぐなら多く注げ
客に明かりが足りぬ心得と知れ
灯に陰灯陽灯の二つあり
朝を陰に夕を陽と踏む
昔の夜会などには床の間へまた
掛物も花もないと聞く
冬などは炭も服部に柄の火箸
木地香合に焼物と聞く
絵にもまた左向き右向き真向きあり
されども床の間の都合にもよる

When viewing books with outer titles
Show the title to the host before opening
When displaying incense boxes or feather whisks

Know that the etiquette changes somewhat
For morning tea gatherings in the sukiya, use andon lamps
For evening gatherings and such, place tankei lamps
When adding oil to lamps, add plenty

There are two types of lamps: in and yō
Morning uses in (shadow), evening uses yō (light)
At ancient evening gatherings, in the tokonoma
There were neither hanging scrolls nor flowers, I hear
In winter, with charcoal in the fukube, handled fire chopsticks
Wooden incense containers and ceramics, I hear
In paintings too, there are left-facing, right-facing, and front-facing
