予年来左り之股根尻の辺りに一ツの癡（疑）
ありて折々やめ痛みしに近頃膝の下裏
腹へかけて難渋せるより種々の膏薬呑薬
塗薬等用ひしも何たる効験のあらさるゆへ
あゆむも難き足曳の山代の温泉こそ
相湯すへけんと妻子の情もて勧めに
従い頃は十月三十一日車を雇ひて出かけしも
元より老たる身にしあれば輪回の事を
思ひやり幾久の名に引かゑて荼毘の

私は年来、左の股の付け根から尻の辺りに一つの腫れ物（おそらく）があって、折々痛みを感じていたが、近頃は膝の下から裏の腹部にかけて苦痛を感じるようになったので、種々の膏薬や飲み薬、塗り薬などを用いたけれども、何の効果もなかったため、歩くのも困難な足を引きずって山代の温泉こそが適当な湯治場であろうと、妻子の情けある勧めに従い、時は十月三十一日、車を雇って出かけた。もとより老いた身であるから、輪廻転生のことを思いやり、「幾久」の名に引き替えて火葬の

Travel Account of Yamashiro Hot Springs
For years I have had a swelling (presumably) in the area from my left groin to my buttocks, which occasionally caused me pain. Recently, the affliction has spread from below my knee to my lower abdomen, causing me great distress. I tried various plasters, oral medicines, and topical treatments, but none proved effective. Since walking had become difficult with my dragging leg, I thought that the hot springs of Yamashiro would be the most suitable place for therapeutic bathing. Following the kind recommendation of my wife and children, on October 31st, I hired a vehicle and set out.
