もてなしよしで馳走よし、湯壺多くて
都合よし、仕合よし故運がよし、夫ゆへ弥
身上よし、皆々吉田屋よしたやと、益
繁昌のよしを祝ひ侍る
おちこちの皆客人もあし曳の
山代にては景気吉田屋
かく認てあたへしに夫婦のよろこび
かぎりなく尚御贔屓を願ひますと、
送りくるまも跡見へず、早大聖寺に
至りしより、しばし休らい立出しに、
此頃長き雨天にて、道の悪さに隙取て、
もふ弁当に妙々と、牛の谷駅に至りし
まゝ腹ふくらしてひき出し、次の宿との
中川にて、しばしいこいて丸岡の、しるべ
がに鳥渡【ちよっと】立寄りつ、西山にはや入日前、
森田の茶店に至りしより、迎ひはよもやと
思へとも、手土産少し買もとめ、綴れる
記行も幾久敷、荒々書けるを荒町にて、

もてなしよく馳走がよい、湯壺が多くて都合がよい、仕合わせがよい故運がよい、それゆえにいよいよ身上がよい、皆々吉田屋よしたやと、ますます繁昌のよいことを祝い申し上げる。
あちこちの皆客人も足引の山代においては景気よい吉田屋
このように書いて渡したところ、夫婦の喜びは限りなく、なお御贔屓をお願いしますと言った。送りの車も見えなくなって、早々に大聖寺に至ったので、しばし休息して出立したが、この頃長い雨天で道が悪く時間がかかって、もう弁当時刻になったので、牛の谷駅に至って腹ごしらえをして出発し、次の宿場との中間の中川でしばし休息して、丸岡の案内者にちょっと立ち寄り、西山にはもう入日の前で、森田の茶店に至ったが、迎えはまさかと思うものの、手土産を少し買い求めた。綴ったこの紀行文も長く続き、荒々しく書いたものを荒町で、荒々しくめでたく宿として筆を留める。

Good hospitality and good cuisine, many hot spring baths making it convenient, good fortune bringing good luck, therefore ever-improving prosperity—everyone praises Yoshidaya as "yoshitaya" (good shop), celebrating its increasing prosperity.
All the guests from here and there find Yoshidaya prosperous in Yamashiro of Ashihiki.
When I wrote and gave this to them, the couple's joy knew no bounds, and they asked for continued patronage. The sending carriage disappeared from view, and I quickly arrived at Daishoji. After resting briefly and departing, due to the recent long rainy weather the roads were poor and time-consuming. As it was already lunch time, I arrived at Ushinotani station, filled my belly and departed. At Nakagawa, which is between stations, I rested briefly and made a quick stop with a guide at Maruoka. With the sun already setting behind the western mountains, I arrived at a tea shop in Morita. Though I thought there would surely be no one to meet me, I bought some small souvenirs. This travel record I have been writing continues at length—having written it roughly, I conclude my brush at Aramachi, roughly but auspiciously, as my lodging place.
