払ふて渡さんと答ける故さらは明日下城
し迎ひを早く出掛趣向せんと供頭初
申合大小肩衣袴相応之衣服足袋提
物迄悉皆借請翌朝供帰直様支度を
調へ可然場所見計らひ駕乗夫ゟ行列
を正し望之所々為乗廻り最早満足之
由申に付平川え手前に而不目立場所
見計らひ下乗させけれは厚く礼謝し
約束の如く即座に貯金不残渡せし故
一統大歓相互堅く他言を禁し例之如く
下馬腰掛にて主人を待請帰邸之上仲ヶ間
申合酒肴夫々之好物を買求め長屋続の
大部屋に而密に一盃呑んと言ひしも次第に
酩酊し興に乗し最初之約も打忘れ得手に
任せて歌祭文浄瑠璃抔にて声高成る故
何事やらんと奥向ゟ窓を覗ひて立聞あり
しに何かはもつて知らさらん弥大声を発し
けふの始末を語れる故旦那の立腹一方
ならす即刻目代呼出し供頭初近習徒士

支払って渡そうと答えたので、「それならば明日下城時に迎えを早く出かけ、趣向を凝らそう」と供頭をはじめ申し合わせ、大小刀・肩衣・袴・相応の衣服・足袋・提げ物まですべて借り受けた。翌朝供が帰ると直様支度を整え、然るべき場所を見計らって駕籠に乗せ、そこから行列を正して望みの所々を乗り回った。最早満足したと申すにつき、平川門へ手前の目立たない場所を見計らって下乗させると、厚く礼謝し約束の如く即座に貯金を残らず渡したので、一同大いに歓び、相互に堅く他言を禁じた。例の如く下馬所の腰掛にて主人を待ち、帰邸の上、仲間で申し合わせて酒肴やそれぞれの好物を買い求め、長屋続きの大部屋にて密かに一杯飲もうと言ったものの、次第に酩酊し興に乗って最初の約束も打ち忘れ、得手に任せて歌・祭文・浄瑠璃などにて声高になった。そのため「何事やら」と奥向きから窓を覗いて立ち聞きしたところ、何をもって知らないことがあろうか、いよいよ大声を発して今日の始末を語ったので、旦那の立腹は一方ならず、即刻目代を呼び出し、供頭をはじめ近習・徒士・供方一統総暇、門内から追い払うよう申し渡され、右往左往となった。

The chief attendant and others conspired together, borrowing everything - swords (long and short), shoulder garments, hakama, appropriate clothing, tabi socks, and carrying items. The next morning, as soon as the attendants returned, they immediately prepared everything, chose an appropriate location, had him ride in a palanquin, formed a proper procession from there, and paraded around all the places he had wished to see. When he said he was finally satisfied, they had him dismount at an inconspicuous spot near Hirakawa Gate. He expressed deep gratitude and immediately handed over all his savings as promised. Everyone was greatly delighted and strictly forbade each other from speaking of this to others. As usual, they waited for their master at the dismounting area's bench, and after returning to the residence, the group conspired to buy sake, side dishes, and each person's favorite foods, planning to drink secretly in the large room of the continuous row houses. However, they gradually became intoxicated and excited, forgetting their initial agreement, and began singing, chanting festival narratives, and joruri ballads at the top of their voices. From the inner quarters, someone peered through the window wondering "what's going on?" and listened in. What could they not know? They shouted even louder, telling the whole story of the day's events. The master's anger was beyond measure - he immediately summoned his deputy and ordered that the chief attendant, close attendants, foot soldiers, and all the servant staff be dismissed entirely and expelled from the premises, causing great confusion and panic.
