　　　旧藩家中屋敷曲輪に怪敷
　　　化もの出るといへる所々あり
一新屋敷桜之馬場西の方勝見筋よりの
　往来元郡組と四番町迄二三丁程之間両
　側共屋敷なく其中程三ッ辻に小高き馬
　出しの土居に三本松とて大樹三株あり尚馬
　場続之土居並木竹薮等繁茂して夜分は
　物凄き気色成しが深更に及び天狗の所
　為にや却かされ又釣瓶おとしとて右松の
　枝より挑灯提たるを見て恐怖せしもの古来

新屋敷の桜馬場の西の方、勝見筋からの道で、元郡組から四番町まで二、三町ほどの間は、両側とも屋敷がなく、その中ほどの三つ辻に小高い馬出しの土塁があり、三本松と呼ばれる大樹三株がある。さらに馬場続きの土塁や並木、竹薮等が繁茂して、夜分は物凄い様子を呈しているが、深夜になると天狗の仕業であろうか、石を投げられたり、また「釣瓶落とし」と呼ばれる、その松の枝から提灯がぶら下がっているのを見て恐怖した者が古来

In the western part of Shin-yashiki's Sakura Baba (Cherry Blossom Horse Ground), along the road from Katsumi-suji, in the area of about two to three cho between Moto-gun-gumi and Yonban-cho, there are no residences on either side. In the middle of this area, at a three-way intersection, there is a small elevated earthwork called umadashi, where three large trees known as "Sanbon-matsu" (Three Pines) stand. Furthermore, the earthworks, tree-lined paths, and bamboo groves extending from the horse grounds grow thick, presenting an eerie atmosphere at night. In the dead of night, perhaps due to the work of tengu (supernatural beings), stones are thrown, and there have been those who, since ancient times, were terrified by what is called "tsurube-otoshi" - the sight of lanterns hanging from the branches of those pine trees.
