場所へ行て見しに泉邸塀の内より出たる
木の枝にかゝれるを見前夜の比興を愧ぢ
他言を秘して語らさるもの有しとなん
又提灯の火をとられ蝋燭計り先に立て行
しもあり総而此辺の屋敷〳〵には種々の怪事
度々あり

用事があって小雨が降る暗い夜に、恐る恐る謡を歌いながら通りかかったところ、思いもよらず傘を掴まれて引っ張られ、どうすることもできず、身の毛もよだって恐怖し、命からがら逃げ帰った。翌朝、その場所へ行って見てみると、泉邸の塀の内から出ている木の枝に引っかかっているのを見て、前夜の滑稽な出来事を恥じ、他人には秘密にして語らない者があったということである。
また提灯の火を取られて、蝋燭だけが先に立って行った者もある。総じてこの辺りの屋敷々々には種々の怪事が度々あった。

Having business to attend to on a dark night with light rain falling, he fearfully passed through while singing noh chants, when unexpectedly his umbrella was grabbed and pulled. Unable to do anything about it, his hair standing on end with terror, he fled for his life. The next morning, when he went to look at that place, he saw it was caught on a tree branch extending from inside the fence of the Izumi residence. Ashamed of the previous night's ridiculous incident, there was someone who kept it secret and did not speak of it to others.
There was also someone whose lantern flame was extinguished, leaving only a candle to light the way ahead. In general, various strange incidents frequently occurred at the residences in this area.
