三月雛祭破魔弓之事
一三月の節句古来は上旬巳の日に祝へるより
上巳の節句と言ひけるがいつの頃よりか三日
と定り 内裏雛を段上に飾り裸人形其
外色々の小道具等段々に並べ神酒菱餅
菓子饅頭膳部之品々残りなく備へ桃柳
の生花に色々の細工物抔釣しも元来女子の
祭りなれは上等家柄の釣合にて嫁入の道
具に必持行女子初産の祝には身分之
高下に差別なく其里方より送るを例とし

の生花に色々の細工物なども釣るし物も、元来女子の
祭りなので、上等家柄の釣り合いにて嫁入りの道
具に必ず持参し、女子初産の祝いには身分の

Regarding the March Hina Festival and Hamaya (demon-breaking bow)
First, the March seasonal festival was traditionally celebrated on the day of the snake (mi) in the early part of the month, which is why it was called the Jōmi no Sekku (Festival of the First Snake Day). At some point, however, it became fixed on the third day. Court dolls (dairi-bina) are displayed on tiered platforms, along with naked dolls and various other miniature accessories arranged on the tiers. Sacred sake, diamond-shaped rice cakes, confections, steamed buns, and all manner of feast items are offered without exception. Peach and willow fresh flowers and various crafted decorations are also hung. Since this is fundamentally a festival for girls, families of high status include these as part of the bridal trousseau according to their social standing. For the celebration of a daughter's first childbirth, regardless of social rank, it is customary for the natal family to send these items.
