現代語訳

今、史書を按じてその一を以て遣使の年を定めるとする。洪武以来の使事で、冊封を行わない者の姓名は備考できないので、故に並列しないという。冊使は例として行人を以て充てる。明の正統中に始めて給事中を用いてこれを為し、正副これに仍い、後に遂に変えず。翰林と中書舎人を用いるのは前使より始まる。両使は皆史臣である。ただこの役のみ。

Now, examining the historical records, we use one approach to establish the years of envoy dispatches. For missions since the Hongwu era that did not involve investiture ceremonies, the names cannot be fully researched, so they are not listed together. Investiture envoys were customarily filled by officials of the rank of 行人 (xingren). During the Zhengtong era of the Ming, they first began using 給事中 (jishizhong) for this purpose, with principal and vice envoys continuing this practice, which remained unchanged thereafter. The use of Hanlin and Secretariat personnel began with the previous envoys. Both envoys were historiographer officials, except for this particular mission.
