谷家ノ記録ニ拠レリ一モ私照ナシ
三国海陸道路ノ里数ハ皆本邦ノ道法。三十六町一里ヲ以テ
記ス異国ノ道法ヲ不＿レ用。是本邦ノ人暁シ易カラン為也
朝鮮ハ清ノ法ニ俲テ。本邦ノ三町半許ヲ以テ一里ト

三国の海陸道路の里数は、全て本邦の道法である三十六町を一里とする方式で記している。異国の道法は用いない。これは本邦の人が理解しやすくするためである。
朝鮮は清の法に倣って、本邦の三町半ほどを一里としている。朝鮮の十里は即ち本邦の一里であると知るべきである。琉球は本邦と同じく三十六町を一里とする方式を用いている。蝦夷は本邦の四十九町を一里とすると言われているが、その国には元より都城や駅や宿などの施設がないため、その里数を測定して定めた人もおらず、その詳細を知ることはできない。ここに記す所は、その地に慣れ親しんだ船人の説によるもので、大まかな測量であると知るべきである。

The distances of sea and land routes of the three countries are all recorded using our country's road measurement system of thirty-six chō to one ri. I do not use the road measurement systems of foreign countries. This is so that people of our country can easily understand them.
Korea follows the Qing system, using about three and a half chō of our country as one ri. One should know that ten ri of Korea equals one ri of our country. Ryukyu uses the same system as our country, with thirty-six chō to one ri. Ezo is said to consider forty-nine chō of our country as one ri, but since that country has no cities, post stations, or inns from the beginning, there is no one who has measured and determined those distances, so the details cannot be known. What is recorded here is based on the accounts of sailors familiar with those waters, and should be understood as rough measurements.
