があった。箕子に代わってその地に王となった者を衛満という。その後の子孫は、あるいは中国に入り、あるいは入らず、ついに内乱してその国は分かれて三つとなった。いわゆる三韓である。その後新羅が二韓を滅ぼして統一した。またその後、高麗の王氏が新羅を滅ぼして統一した。またその後、高麗の李氏が王氏に代わって三韓を統治し、再び朝鮮の号に復して今に至っている。すべて上は檀君より下は今世に至るまでの事柄および神功皇后の征伐以来、その国が代々日本に租税や貢物を献上したありさま、または太閤の征伐の事などをことごとく記すべきであるが、文章が長くなるのでこれを省略する。かつ、その治乱興廃の詳細なことは『東国通鑑』がある。これによって知るべきである。

came into being. The one who became king in that land in place of Gija is called Wiman. His descendants either entered China or did not enter, and finally there was internal strife and the country split into three parts. These are the so-called Three Han kingdoms. Later, Silla destroyed the two Han kingdoms and unified them. Then later, the Wang clan of Goryeo destroyed Silla and unified the country. Then later still, the Yi clan of Goryeo replaced the Wang clan and ruled over the Three Han, returning once again to the name Chosŏn, which continues to the present day. Although I should record in detail everything from Dangun above to the present world below, including the circumstances of how that country has continuously offered taxes and tribute to Japan since the conquest by Empress Jingū, as well as matters such as the Taikō's military campaigns, I omit these because the text would become lengthy. Moreover, for detailed information about the cycles of order and disorder, rise and decline, there is the Tongguk t'onggam (Comprehensive Mirror of the Eastern Country).
