ニ漂流スルコト七ケ月。其幾千里ナルコトヲ不＿レ知。至ル処。海気
昏黒ニシテ日月ヲ不＿レ見コト百余日。風止ムノ故ニ針路ヲ南
ニ求テ漸々ニ舟ヲ進ルコト数日ニシテ忽チ一大国ヲ見。其
国ヲ。ヱドロフト云海岸ニ傍テ西南ニ行コト八昼夜ニシテ
其国ノ地境尽。此処ヨリ西南十二三里ニ山ヲ見ル渡レバ
又一国アリ其国ヲ。クナジリト云又海岸ニ傍テ西南ニ行
コト九昼夜ニシテ地境尽タリ。又西方二十余里ニ山ヲ見ル
渡レバ乃チ蝦夷ノ。ノツサブ也。ソレヨリ同国。トガチヲ経
テ松前ニ至ルト云記録アリ。小子按ニ其始メ至シ。海気昏
黒ノ処ハ加摸西葛杜加（カムシカツトカ）ノ東ヲ過テ夜国ノ境ニ漂イ居タルナ
現代語訳
に漂流すること七ヶ月。その幾千里なることを知らず。至る処、海気昏黒にして日月を見ないこと百余日。風が止んだ故に針路を南に求めて漸々に舟を進めること数日にして忽ち一大国を見た。その国を「エドロフ」と言う。海岸に沿って西南に行くこと八昼夜にしてその国の地境が尽きた。この処より西南十二三里に山を見る。渡ればまた一国あり、その国を「クナシリ」と言う。また海岸に沿って西南に行くこと九昼夜にして地境が尽きた。また西方二十余里に山を見る。渡れば乃ち蝦夷の「ノッサプ」である。それより同国「トガチ」を経て松前に至ると言う記録がある。小子が考えるに、その始めに至った海気昏黒の処は、カムシャツカの東を過ぎて夜国の境に漂っていたのである。

...drifted for seven months. They did not know how many thousands of ri this was. Everywhere they went, the sea air was dark and murky, and they did not see the sun or moon for over a hundred days. Because the wind stopped, they sought a southward course and gradually advanced their boat for several days when they suddenly saw a great country. This country is called "Edorofu" (Iturup). Following the coast southwest for eight days and nights, the borders of that country ended. From this place, they saw mountains twelve to thirteen ri to the southwest. Upon crossing, there was another country, which is called "Kunashiri" (Kunashir). Again following the coast southwest for nine days and nights, the territorial boundary ended. Again they saw mountains over twenty ri to the west. Upon crossing, it was "Nossapu" of Ezo. From there, passing through "Togachi" of the same country, they reached Matsumae, according to the record. This humble author considers that the place of dark and murky sea air where they first arrived was drifting in the border of the night country, having passed east of Kamchatka.
