現代語訳
蝦夷の舟は多くが丸木舟である。大木を彫って作る。また、板を縄で結んで造るものもある。二人乗りも三人乗りもある。一人が垢汲み（水汲み）の役目を担い、絶えず汲まなければ水が入って舟が沈むという。
この図は丸木舟である。縄結いの舟の図はこれを略す。
英語訳
Most Ainu boats are dugout canoes. They are made by carving large trees. There are also boats made by binding planks together with rope. There are boats for two people and boats for three people. One person has the duty of bailing water, and if they don't bail continuously, water will enter and the boat will sink.
