この一人は鄆城県の押司（地方役人）であり、三代にわたって宋家村に住んでいる。寝食や外出において仁信礼義を捨てることがないのは、まさに声と響きのようなものである。郷里に困窮した民がいれば財産をもってこれを助け、国に危急の士がいれば身を投げ打って彼を救う。このため山東河北の人々は彼を呼んで「及時雨」と称賛している。どのような悪い因縁であろうか、閻婆惜を妾として迎えて文袋をめぐる争いから、足元に這う蟻一匹も殺さない仁者でありながら、邪悪な毒婦の行いをなだめる道がなく、怒って楼閣の中で妾を殺し、泣いて宿駅で兵卒を斬った。数百の戦場を経験したといえども、自ら刀を血で染めたのは生涯ただこの二度だけである。官の難を逃れようと清風山に身を寄せた時、劉高の妻を救ったが、その奸婦はかえって恩を仇で返し、上元節の燈花の下で捕らえられた。百千万の灯火もなぜ罪を照らさないのか。囚人として護送される道中で花栄らの救いを得たが、父の災いを取り除く道がなく、ついに江州の流人となった。

Though he was a benevolent man who would not kill even a single ant crawling at his feet, he had no way to pacify the wicked woman's behavior.
