游（うか）ぶが像（ごと）く。性（こゝろ）は
百虎（ひやくこ）の鉄石山（てつせきざん）に
穴（すむ）に斉（ひと）し。火坑（くわきやう）
にも跳投（とびい）り。刀山（たうざん）
にも■（はせ）【足+急】■（のぼ）【足+向】るに。
毛頭（もうとう）怕（おそ）るゝ血色（けしき）
なし。これが
ために英名（ゑいめい）ます〳〵
高（たか）ふして。背（せ）に黥（ほ）る龍（りやう）と
もろともに。絳霄（てん）にや戻（のぼ）らん。
誉（ほ）めんとすれども。舌（した）の根（ね）の。
脨（すくむ）ばかりの豪傑（がうけつ）なり

九紋龍史進
身は九匹の龍が白玉の水に泳ぐがごとく、心は百匹の虎が鉄石山の穴に住むのと同じである。火の坑にも飛び込み、刀の山にも駆け上るが、少しも恐れる様子がない。これがために英名がますます高くなって、背中に彫った龍とともに、天にでも昇るであろう。褒めようとしても、舌の根がすくむばかりの豪傑である。

His body is like nine dragons swimming in white jade water, and his heart is like a hundred tigers dwelling in caves of iron and stone mountains. He leaps into pits of fire and rushes up mountains of swords, showing not the slightest sign of fear. Because of this, his heroic reputation grows ever higher, and together with the dragon tattooed on his back, he might ascend to heaven itself. Though one would praise him, he is such a hero that one's tongue freezes at the root.
