この一人は真定州の人である。身長は八尺余りあって、目が最も優れているので、玉旙竿（ぎょくばんかん）という渾名で呼ばれている。
拳闘で他人を傷つけて他国に逃走した。道の途中で刎頸の友である鄧飛に出会った。同じ身の上で同じ志を持つ者同士。あちらの悪者、こちらの博徒を子分とし、飲馬山の峰の上で、強盗を一年余り続けた。ついに戴宗の勧めに従い、百八人と苦楽を共にし、偏将軍の兜の緒を締めることとなった。夏国の賊を討つ時は、西陵橋下の待ち伏せで、三阮（阮氏三兄弟）と力を合わせ、杬州城の十将の一人である茅迪を捕虜にし、再び槍を振るって整え、猛将と呼ばれた湯逢士を胸から背まで刺し貫いた。敵前不退の英雄である。
