牢獄の苦しみを助け、西岳の廟に向かっては、官卒を木石のようにし、華州城に押し寄せては、城兵を水火の中に投げ込む。あるいは北京で焼き討ちして盧員外の危急を救い、軍を帰らせれば関勝の剛強さを打ち砕いて捕虜とし、ついに裏切らない義党に帰順させた。曽頭市で血を流しては晁天王の霊を慰め、兵糧船の餌を垂らしては、張清を水泊に釣り上げた。八卦の陣形と十面の伏兵、この謀略に当たっては、官軍はほとんど魂を泥にし、魄を灰にした。ついに王家の臣となって、大遼・方臘・田虎・王慶の四大賊軍を討ち、臨機応変に変に応じ機に従い、火攻めを行っても胸を焦がさず、水攻めを行っても手を濡らさない。古今未曾有の大師都督と言うべきである。
