此一個（このひとり）は原（もと）北京（ほくきん）の人（ひと）なり。年卑（としわか）き頃（ころ）府中（ふちゆう）光明寺（くはうみやうじ）の菜園（さいゑん）【左に（ナバタケ）】を衛（まも）る縁故（ゆへん）に
菜園子（さいゑんし）と諢名（あだな）せり。僧侶（そうりよ）と諍（あらそ）ふて精舎（てら）を焼（やき）殿司（てんそ）を殺（ころ）して私奔（かけおち）なし。猛（もう）
州（しう）に來（き）て漂逰（さまよふ）うち。山夜叉（さんやしや）孫元（そんげん）に武術（ぶじゆつ）を学（まな）び。剰（あまつさへ）女（むすめ）孫二娘（そんじぜう）を授（もらふ）て妻（つま）となし。
十字坡（しうじは）の山上（さんせう）に酒店（さかや）を設（もふ）け。過客（たびうど）を呼（よん）で麻酒（しびれざけ）を浮勧（しひすゝ）む。その毒（どく）環（まはつ）て
渾身（そうみ）の痿（なへ）るを窺（うかゞ）ひつ。衣（ころも）を剥（はぎ）財（たから）を奪（うば）ひ。他（ひと）の肉（にく）を包（まんぢう）にし。是（これ）を鬻（ひさい）で嶺禽（とり）

《割書：地煞星七十二員の内、地形星》菜園子張青
この一人は元々北京の人である。年若い頃、府中の光明寺の菜園を守る縁故により、菜園子と渾名された。僧侶と争って精舎を焼き、殿司を殺して駆け落ちした。猛州に来てさまよううち、山夜叉孫元に武術を学び、さらにその娘孫二娘をもらって妻とした。
十字坡の山上に酒店を設け、過客を呼んで麻酒を強いて勧める。その毒が回って全身が痺れるのを窺い、衣を剥ぎ財を奪い、他人の肉を饅頭にして、これを売って鳥や獣の風味と偽る。好んで人命を屠ること塵芥のごとくするといえども、誓って三つの不殺を守る。一つには雲游の僧、二には娼妓・女郎、三には流人・囚人である。家にこれらの禁断があれども、ややもすれば妻二娘が誓いを破って、魯智深・武松への過ちを犯してしまった。

《Inserted text: Among the seventy-two Earth Fiend Stars, the Earth Form Star》Vegetable Garden Zhang Qing
This individual was originally from Beijing. In his youth, due to his connection with guarding the vegetable garden of Guangming Temple in the prefecture, he was nicknamed "Vegetable Garden." He quarreled with monks, burned down the temple, killed the temple administrator, and eloped. While wandering after coming to Mengzhou, he learned martial arts from the Mountain Yaksha Sun Yuan, and furthermore received his daughter Sun Erniang as his wife.
He established a wine shop on the mountain of Cross Slope, calling to passing travelers and forcibly recommending numbing wine. He watches as the poison circulates and their whole bodies become paralyzed, then strips their clothes, steals their wealth, and makes human flesh into steamed buns, selling these while deceiving customers that they taste like birds and beasts. Though he delights in slaughtering human lives like refuse, he swears to uphold three prohibitions against killing: first, wandering monks; second, prostitutes and courtesans; third, exiles and prisoners. Though the household has these prohibitions, his wife Erniang often breaks the oath and commits errors against figures like Lu Zhishen and Wu Song.
