この兄弟は登州城外の猟師である。二人とも身長が七尺余りと大柄で、力も人並み以上に優れているため、昼夜を問わず狩りをして暮らしていた。ある崖を通りかかった時、傷ついた虎に出会った。毛仲義の屋敷へと虎を射落とした。これを取り返そうと兄弟がその家に行って求めたところ、毛家の父子は心根が悪く、虎は返さずにかえって騙し、だまして捕らえて縄をかけ、役人の牢屋に落とした。孫新夫婦がこれを憐れみ、数人の豪傑と心を合わせて、ついに牢から助け出した。その足で毛家に乱入し、毒父悪子をはじめとして家内残らず皆殺しにし、金銀刀馬を奪い取って、宋公明が出陣した曽頭市の軍に加わった。兄の解珍が手始めに三男曽索の首を取った。賊官童貫の軍を追っては、鄷美畢勝を攻め悩まし、高俅の海鰍船を破った。

These brothers were hunters outside Dengzhou city. Both were tall, over seven feet in height, and possessed strength superior to others, so they lived by hunting day and night. When passing by a cliff, they encountered a wounded tiger. They shot the tiger down into Mao Zhongyi's estate. When the brothers went to his house to retrieve it, the father and son of the Mao family were ill-hearted. They would not return the tiger but instead deceived them, tricked and captured them, bound them with rope, and threw them into the official prison. The couple Sun Xin and his wife took pity on them, joined hearts with several heroes, and finally rescued them from prison. Immediately they stormed into the Mao household, slaughtered everyone in the family starting with the poisonous father and evil son, seized gold, silver, swords and horses, and joined the army at Zengtou Market where Song Gongming had deployed. The elder brother Xie Zhen took the head of the third son Zeng Suo as his first achievement. When pursuing the army of the traitorous official Tong Guan, they tormented Fang Mei and Bi Sheng, and destroyed Gao Qiu's sea loach ships.
