それ以来、江上湖中での活躍は、黄文炳をはじめとして、安道全を迎えては、楊子江で賊張旺、海鰍船の邪悪な高俅。金山寺浦では呉成を殺し、陳家の船を奪っては、潤州攻めの功績第一。杭州城の戦いでは、単身西陵橋より飛び込んで、幾重もの鈴索や鐸網を、右に潜り左に抜け、湧金門に這い上がり、雲垣を越えんとする音を、衛兵に見つけられた。数千の弓兵に射すくめられ、水底深く逃れても、身に寸鉄の楯もなければ、哀れむべし盛んなる豪傑も、西湖の泡と化して終わった。されども猛魂は空しからずして、龍帝の慈恵を蒙り、金華大保の官を得て兄張横の身を借りた。五雲山下で城主たる方天定を怒殺したのは、誠に忠義の至極である。

Since then, his exploits on the rivers and lakes included: starting with Huang Wenbing, welcoming An Daoquan, fighting the bandit Zhang Wang on the Yangtze River, and the evil Gao Qiu of the sea loach ships. At Jinshan Temple Harbor he killed Wu Cheng, and seizing the Chen family's boat, he achieved the greatest merit in the attack on Runzhou. In the battle at Hangzhou city, he alone leaped from Xiling Bridge, diving right and emerging left through layers of bell ropes and gong nets, climbing up to Yongjin Gate. When the sound of him trying to scale the high walls was detected by the guard soldiers, he was shot down by thousands of archers. Though he escaped deep into the water bottom, having not even an inch of iron as shield on his body, this vigorous hero, pitiful as it was, ended up turning into bubbles on West Lake. However, his fierce soul was not in vain - receiving the benevolence of the Dragon Emperor, he obtained the position of Jinhua Daibao and borrowed his brother Zhang Heng's body. His killing in anger of Fang Tianding, who was the castle lord under Mount Wuyun, was truly the utmost expression of loyalty and righteousness.
