現代語訳
開帳が大きに流行っているところは言うに及ばず、近国遠国より我も我もと参詣群集なさる中にも不思議なるは、両国橋へ出てくる犬の足の不自由な子どもの時聞くまに両足を引かれてしまった。この開帳が始まりしより願をかけ真心があれば腰が立って治ったとて御利生を売り歩く。
さて今度の開帳が大きに当たりがあったのでなんぞ珍しき見せ物または芝居をやろうと相談する。そんな世話で丹波の娘を買いだそうという。
蛇「俺が思うのは河竹[座？]は勢いを増して上がり、浄瑠璃興行をやろう。それにつけてもこちらに相手がいないから早々上方へ呼びに行きましょう」

The temple opening (kaicho) is extremely popular, needless to say, and people from near and far provinces are flocking to worship. Among the wonders is a child with disabled legs who comes to Ryogoku Bridge - when he was young, both his legs were paralyzed. Since this temple opening began, those who make wishes with sincere hearts have their hips healed and can stand, so they walk around selling [tales of] these divine benefits.
