【朱書】寛政二戌十一月岩城仙太郎未之番外被仰付指物絵形差出候に付猶又似寄も無之哉吟味之上本紙出来候様島津右太夫へ相達候旨留有之【ここまで朱書】享保ノ初は御留守には江戸へ伺被成候也
一御番組ゟ自分指物相用候格式被仰付候はゝ早速以手紙《割書：即日口達｜に而も宜》指物絵形同役月番迄被
　差出候様申越相認来候はゝ絵奉行呼出し右絵形并御用箱に有之惣絵形帳共に相渡候
　《割書：弘化之頃は此惣絵形帳は不相渡絵奉行ゟ｜絵形名札共差出候節此方に而張替候事》左候得は御影池七右衛門《割書：弘化之頃は｜枝野七五郎》へ申付絵形三枚為認
　内壱枚は御手鑑へ為張候《割書：弘化之頃は御用人中へ申達御手鑑｜御下ヶ相願此方に而張替差上ル》尤御在府中に候得は通御飛
　脚之節箱入にいたし同役方へ差越候事壱枚は則絵奉行取扱に而御本丸へ張之残ル
　壱枚は御家老中手鑑之分御内御右筆へ相渡之《割書：弘化之頃此方御用箱に有之惣絵形帳にも此方｜に而張候に付当時は絵形都合四枚為認候様に成也》
　但右指物へ面々名苗字書記候儀は御用人へ此方ゟ手紙遣し尤絵奉行誰方ゟ為相廻
　　可申旨申越候得は御右筆へ被申付名書被為認候且又御本丸へ為張候節も是又御右筆

　一右之通有之候得共弘化之頃は右銘々名前書候儀御用人へ申達候節何日頃絵奉行罷出候
　　様可取扱哉と御用人へ申談其日絵奉行罷出候得は小名札認出来何も絵奉行へ被相渡候
　　を絵奉行取扱御本丸へも張出し残ル三枚は絵形共に此方へ遣之候間受取夫々取斗候事
　　尤御本丸へ張候節御右筆も不罷出候

一御家老職被仰付候節御徒目付へ申付御座所立番を以御座所御門ゟ段々御門〳〵之番所へ下座候儀申付其後手
　紙を以頭々江申遣候事
　右元文元辰年十一月五日狛木工方御家老職被仰付候節之留に有之金津奉行へも為知候由出福無之に付如此
一御側御用人被仰付候節右同断
一御目付役被仰付候節右同断名元入替席之儀絵奉行へ可申通
一御用人本役被仰付候節御徒目付を以立番へ申付御持組三番所へ《割書：鉄御門　中仕切御門｜御座所御門》下座
　之儀申付其後頭々へ申遣之
一御番頭被仰付御番組引渡之儀は月番へ番頭被召呼御家老中被申渡其節御目付罷出候事
一何役に而も明キ有之仮役被仰付置候節本役被仰付候得は右仮役之者早速御免之儀御家

一御門所下座有之御役ゟ下座無之御役へ転役被仰付候はゝ早速御徒目付を以立番へ申付御

一御水主頭被仰付候節は舟印絵形指出候様尤御役替に付組之者引渡等之儀可申達事
一享和二戌七月廿五日御省略に付舟印并御水主頭舟印被相止候依之御水主頭被仰付候節舟印絵形之儀不及申達候事
一御先物頭被仰付候節は先役相勤候者之跡火事場詰所之儀相勤候様可申達事組引渡同断
一御使番被仰付候節御役指物受取候儀尤先役之者右御役指物引渡候様夫々可相達事
一御具役被仰付候節為心得井原兵左衛門へ可申遣事

現代語訳

一、火事場所預りの面々に御役替えがある節は、右詰所のことは御目付から申し達すべきこと

一、夜廻りを相勤める役に候えば、その段は御目付から申し達すはず。もっとも割合に入れ、御家老中が入披見の上、夜廻り筆頭へ申し遣わすはず

【朱書】寛政二戌十一月、岩城仙太郎が未の番外を申し付けられ、指物絵形を差し出すにつき、なお又似寄りもないか吟味の上、本紙出来るよう島津右太夫へ相達した旨の留めがある【ここまで朱書】享保の初めは御留守には江戸へ伺いを成されたものである

一、御番組から自分の指物を相用いる格式を申し付けられれば、早速手紙をもって《即日口達でも宜しい》指物絵形を同役月番まで差し出すよう申し越し、相認めて来れば、絵奉行を呼び出し、右絵形並びに御用箱にある惣絵形帳共に相渡す
《弘化の頃はこの惣絵形帳は相渡さず、絵奉行から絵形名札共を差し出す節、こちらで張り替えること》そうすれば御影池七右衛門《弘化の頃は枝野七五郎》へ申し付け、絵形三枚を認めさせ、内一枚は御手鑑へ張るため《弘化の頃は御用人中へ申し達し、御手鑑御下げを相願い、こちらで張り替えて差し上げる》。もっとも御在府中に候えば、通御飛脚の節に箱入りにいたし同役方へ差し越すこと。一枚は則ち絵奉行取扱いで御本丸へ張り、残る一枚は御家老中手鑑の分を御内御右筆へ相渡す《弘化の頃、こちらの御用箱にある惣絵形帳にもこちらで張るにつき、当時は絵形都合四枚を認めるようになった》
ただし右指物へ面々の名苗字を書き記すことは、御用人へこちらから手紙を遣わし、もっとも絵奉行を誰方から相廻すべき旨を申し越せば、御右筆へ申し付けられ名書きを認められる。かつ又御本丸へ張る節もこれ又御右筆が罷り出ること

一、右の通りであるけれども、弘化の頃は右銘々の名前を書くことを御用人へ申し達す節、何日頃絵奉行が罷り出るよう取り扱うかと御用人へ申し談じ、その日絵奉行が罷り出れば、小名札を認め出来たものを皆絵奉行へ相渡し、絵奉行が取り扱って御本丸へも張り出し、残る三枚は絵形共にこちらへ遣わすので、受け取ってそれぞれ取り計らうこと。もっとも御本丸へ張る節、御右筆も罷り出ない

一、御家老職を申し付けられる節、御徒目付へ申し付け、御座所立番をもって御座所御門から段々の御門々の番所へ下座のことを申し付け、その後手紙をもって頭々へ申し遣わすこと
右は元文元辰年十一月五日、狛木工方に御家老職を申し付けられた節の留めにあり、金津奉行へも知らせた由。出福がないにつき、かくの如し

一、御側御用人を申し付けられる節、右同断

一、御目付役を申し付けられる節、右同断。名元入れ替え席のことは絵奉行へ申し通すべし

一、御用人本役を申し付けられる節、御徒目付をもって立番へ申し付け、御持組三番所へ《鉄御門・中仕切御門・御座所御門》下座のことを申し付け、その後頭々へ申し遣わす

一、御番頭を申し付けられ、御番組引き渡しのことは、月番へ番頭を召び呼び、御家老中が申し渡し、その節御目付が罷り出ること

一、何役でも空きがあり仮役を申し付け置かれた節、本役を申し付けられれば、右仮役の者を早速御免のことを御家老中へ申し達し申し遣わすこと

一、御門所下座のある御役から下座のない御役へ転役を申し付けられれば、早速御徒目付をもって立番へ申し付け、御門々へ下座に及ばない旨を申し遣わし、その後それぞれ手紙で頭々へ申し遣わすこと

一、御水主頭を申し付けられる節は、舟印絵形を指し出すよう。もっとも御役替えにつき組の者の引き渡し等のことを申し達すべきこと

一、享和二戌七月二十五日、御省略につき舟印並びに御水主頭舟印を相止められた。これにより御水主頭を申し付けられる節、舟印絵形のことは申し達すに及ばないこと

一、御先物頭を申し付けられる節は、先役を相勤めた者の跡の火事場詰所のことを相勤めるよう申し達すべきこと。組引き渡しも同断

一、御使番を申し付けられる節、御役指物を受け取ること。もっとも先役の者が右御役指物を引き渡すようそれぞれ相達すべきこと

一、御具役を申し付けられる節、心得のため井原兵左衛門へ申し遣わすべきこと

Article 1: When there are position changes among those in charge of fire stations, matters concerning their duty stations should be communicated by the inspectors.

Article 1: For roles that serve night patrol duty, that matter should be communicated by the inspectors. Most importantly, after including it in the allocation and having the senior councilors review it, it should be sent to the head of night patrol.

【Red writing】In the 11th month of Kansei 2 (1790), when Iwaki Sentaro was appointed to outer guard rank and submitted insignia designs, it was recorded that after further examining whether there were any similar cases, instructions were given to Shimazu Utadayu to prepare the main document【End of red writing】. In the early Kyoho period, during the lord's absence, inquiries were made to Edo.

Article 1: When guard units are appointed to the rank of using their own insignia, they should immediately submit the insignia design to the monthly duty officer of the same rank by letter《verbal communication on the same day is also acceptable》. When this is acknowledged, the art magistrate is summoned and given the insignia design along with the complete insignia record book in the official box.
《Around the Koka period, this complete insignia record book was not handed over; when the art magistrate submitted insignia and name tags, we would paste them here》. Then Okage-ike Shichiemon《around Koka period, Edano Shichigoro》 is ordered to prepare three copies of the insignia design. One copy is pasted in the lord's handbook《Around Koka period, this was communicated to the chamberlains, requesting the lord's handbook be brought down, and we would repaste and submit it》. Most importantly, during residence in the capital, it is sent to colleagues in a box via regular courier. One copy is handled by the art magistrate and pasted in the main castle, and the remaining copy for the senior councilors' handbook is given to the inner secretary《Around Koka period, since we also paste in the complete insignia record book in our official box, currently four insignia copies total are prepared》.
However, regarding writing names and surnames on the insignia, we send a letter to the chamberlains, and when we inform them which direction the art magistrate should be sent from, the secretary is ordered to prepare the name writing. Also, when pasting in the main castle, the secretary appears as well.

Article 1: Although it was as described above, around the Koka period, when communicating to chamberlains about writing individual names, we would consult with chamberlains about what day the art magistrate should appear for handling. When the art magistrate appears on that day, small name tags are prepared and all are given to the art magistrate, who handles posting them in the main castle, and the remaining three copies are sent here with the insignia, so we receive and handle each accordingly. Most importantly, when posting in the main castle, the secretary does not appear.

Article 1: When appointed to senior councilor position, order the foot inspectors to have standing guards announce to the guard posts of each gate from the lord's quarters gate, then afterward send letters to each head.
This is recorded from when Koma Takumi was appointed to senior councilor position on the 5th day of the 11th month of Genbun 1 (1736), and the Kanazu magistrate was also informed. Since there was no departure to Fukui, it was thus.

Article 1: When appointed as chamberlain, same as above.

Article 1: When appointed to inspector role, same as above. Matters of name origin replacement seating should be communicated to the art magistrate.

Article 1: When appointed to full chamberlain role, order foot inspectors to instruct standing guards, and order announcement of rank at the three guard stations of the personal guard unit《Iron Gate, Middle Partition Gate, Lord's Quarters Gate》, then afterward send messages to each head.

Article 1: When appointed as guard captain, regarding handover of guard units, the captain is summoned to the monthly duty officer, senior councilors make the announcement, and inspectors appear at that time.

Article 1: For any role where there is a vacancy and a temporary appointee is placed, when a permanent appointment is made, the matter of immediately releasing the temporary appointee should be communicated to and sent to the senior councilors.

Article 1: When transferred from a role with gate station rank to a role without such rank, immediately order foot inspectors to instruct standing guards and send word to each gate that rank announcement is unnecessary, then afterward send letters to each head.

Article 1: When appointed as naval commander, boat insignia designs should be submitted. Most importantly, matters such as handover of unit members due to position changes should be communicated.

Article 1: On the 25th day of the 7th month of Kyowa 2 (1802), boat insignia and naval commander boat insignia were discontinued due to simplification measures. Therefore, when appointed as naval commander, it is unnecessary to communicate about boat insignia designs.

Article 1: When appointed as advance guard commander, it should be communicated that they will serve the fire station duty post of those who previously served in that role. Same for unit handovers.

Article 1: When appointed as messenger, official insignia should be received. Most importantly, it should be communicated to each that the previous appointee should hand over the official insignia.
