御役御免

一、御役御免のことも、御使番格式以上はその身へ御家老中が申し渡されるものである。番組の内でも御家老中が申し渡されることもあるといえども、大概は番頭又は御役のことの手筋の役人中を以て申し渡される。

一、お咎めがあり御役御免・御取り上げのことは、番外は目付中を以て申し渡され、番組は番頭又は手筋の役人中へ目付中を差し加えて申し渡される。
ただし近年、番外の御役御免・御取り上げは大方その仲間の月番の同役中へ目付中を差し加えて申し渡される。

一、定座番外以上の役を御免になる節、夜廻りに割り入れるはずであるが、改めて本人から相願い申さず、直に割り入れ申すことである。
ただし勤功等がある輩の夜廻り御免のことは、別に仰せ渡される。

一、文化三寅五月、触頭水野善左衛門が病身につき役を御免になったにつき、夜廻りに直に割り入れ申したこと

一、安永八亥七月十七日、御家老狛帯刀方の御役組頭共に御免の節、御中老毛受伝三郎・御用人渡辺十郎左衛門が罷り越し、その節御目付立岩平左衛門が罷り越した

一、天明七未十一月十八日、御家老酒井外記方、右同断の節、御中老毛受伝三郎・御用人牧野主膳、その節御目付奈良太郎右衛門が罷り越した

一、文化八未九月二十七日、御家老岡部左膳方、近年病気が後々まで治らないにつき御役御免、御中老宇都宮勘解由・御用人永見多門、その節御目付長谷部小右衛門が罷り越した

一、御門所に下座がある面々が御役御免等の節は、早速御門々へ申し通すべきこと

Relief from Official Duties

Article 1: Regarding relief from official duties, for messenger rank and above, senior councilors personally announce it to the individual. Although senior councilors sometimes announce it even within guard units, generally it is announced through unit commanders or officials in the relevant department chain of command.

Article 1: When there is a reprimand resulting in relief from duties and confiscation, for non-guard positions, inspectors make the announcement, while for guard units, inspectors are added to unit commanders or relevant department officials to make the announcement.
However, in recent years, for relief from non-guard positions and confiscations, inspectors are generally added to monthly duty colleagues of the same rank to make the announcement.

Article 1: When fixed-seat non-guard positions and above are relieved of duties, they should be assigned to night patrol duty. The individual need not formally request this themselves - they are directly assigned.
However, for those with distinguished service records, exemption from night patrol duty is announced separately.

Article 1: In the 5th month of Bunka 3 (1806), notification head Mizuno Zenzaemon was relieved of duties due to illness, so he was directly assigned to night patrol duty.

Article 1: On the 17th day of the 7th month of An'ei 8 (1779), when senior councilor Koma Tachito and his unit commanders were relieved of duties, middle councilor Mouke Denzaburo and chamberlain Watanabe Jurozaemon went to him, with inspector Tateiwa Heizaemon also attending.

Article 1: On the 18th day of the 11th month of Tenmei 7 (1787), when senior councilor Sakai Geki met the same situation, middle councilor Mouke Denzaburo and chamberlain Makino Shuzen went, with inspector Nara Taroemon attending.

Article 1: On the 27th day of the 9th month of Bunka 8 (1811), senior councilor Okabe Sazen, whose recent illness showed no signs of recovery, was relieved of duties. Middle councilor Utsunomiya Kageyu and chamberlain Nagami Tamon went, with inspector Hasebe Koemon attending.

Article 1: When individuals who have lower seats at gate posts are relieved of duties, the respective gates should be notified immediately.
