但隠居名等に相改候而は是迄之通可有之事
一宝暦五亥十月金津奉行平本但見未之番外堀十兵衛隠居被仰付候に付忰同道罷出候様御家
老中ゟ被申越候処右両人不快に付難罷出旨右両人忰共月番宅へ罷出相達候に付御用之
品は難斗事に候得共先各出席可然旨遂挨拶其段御家老中へ申達候翌日御用被
仰渡之節忰斗罷出被仰渡有之事済名代等之取扱も無之事
一文政六未四月十日於江戸表本多筑後方御目付中村太郎左衛門へ御書付を以左之通被仰

大道寺勝之進儀生質愚成方病身にも相聞御間に合兼候仍之致養子隠居
相願候様勝之進同姓大道寺庄左衛門大道寺七右衛門へ可被申聞候

一休息等内願之儀は兼而六十四五歳ゟ若き者休息内願多相成候儀は御好不被遊無拠
病身之者は格別其餘勝手向之儀に付内願之者有之哉に候へ共御番等相勤り候程之者は休
息内願成丈無之様に御番頭共猶又精誠心配候様にとの御沙汰に候事
一此度武田弥三郎儀は年来病身にも有之其上眼病に候得は無拠儀且又大内七郎兵衛儀は近
来病身とは乍申御番等相勤り兼候程には不被思召候右之趣御番頭共兼而相含置候様
にとの御沙汰に候事
一延享三寅六月十一日中川惣右衛門親聴雨儀最前思召有之候故休息被仰付候へ共向後隠居に被仰付候間年始御礼等にも御目見に罷出候様被仰出候
一天明八申十二月八日猪子十兵衛儀格別之思召を以隠居之御取扱に被成下候事
但十兵衛儀御奉行相勤居候処不調法有之昨未三月四日拝知御取揚休息忰孫次郎へ廿五石五人ふち被下之候也
一寛保元酉十一月十一日本多五郎右衛門親豊田猪兵衛儀隠居並に被仰付年始御礼等にも可罷出旨被仰出候事
一弘化二巳十二月五日松平庄兵衛親主馬芦田内匠養父図書儀以来隠居之御取扱に被成下候旨

然るべきことである。
ただし隠居名等に改める場合は、これまでの通りであること。
一、宝暦五年亥十月、金津奉行平本但見、未之番外堀十兵衛が隠居を仰せ付けられるにつき、息子同道で出頭するよう御家老中から申し越されたところ、右両人が体調不良のため出頭し難い旨、右両人の息子らが月番宅へ出向いて申し達したので、御用の品は測り難いことであるが、まず各々出席するのが然るべき旨挨拶を遂げ、その段を御家老中へ申し達した。翌日御用を仰せ渡される節、息子のみが出頭し仰せ渡しがあり、事は済み、名代等の取り扱いもないこと。
一、文政六年未四月十日、江戸表において本多筑後方御目付中村太郎左衛門へ御書付をもって左の通り仰せ渡され、その段を両人へ太郎左衛門が申し聞かせた。
大道寺勝之進の儀は生来愚鈍な性質で病身でもあり、御用に間に合わないので、養子をして隠居を願うよう、勝之進同姓の大道寺庄左衛門、大道寺七右衛門へ申し聞かせるべきである。
一、文化十五年寅三月、左の通り仰せ出されたこと。
一、休息等の内願の儀は、かねて六十四、五歳より若い者の休息内願が多くなることは御好みでないので、やむを得ない病身の者は格別として、その他勝手向の儀につき内願する者があるようであるが、御番等を勤められる程の者は休息内願をできるだけしないよう、御番頭らがなお一層精誠をもって心配するようにとの御沙汰であること。
一、この度武田弥三郎の儀は年来病身でもあり、その上眼病であるからやむを得ず、また大内七郎兵衛の儀は近来病身とは申すものの、御番等を勤めかねる程とは思し召されない。右の趣旨を御番頭らがかねて含み置くようにとの御沙汰であること。
一、延享三年寅六月十一日、中川惣右衛門の父聴雨の儀は、最前より思し召しがあったので休息を仰せ付けられていたが、今後は隠居に仰せ付けられるので、年始御礼等にも御目見に出頭するよう仰せ出された。
一、天明八年申十二月八日、猪子十兵衛の儀は格別の思し召しをもって隠居の御取り扱いになされること。
ただし十兵衛の儀は御奉行を勤めていたところ不調法があり、昨年未三月四日拝知を御取り上げ、休息とし、息子孫次郎へ二十五石五人扶持をお下しになったのである。
一、寛保元年酉十一月十一日、本多五郎右衛門の父豊田猪兵衛の儀は隠居並びに仰せ付けられ、年始御礼等にも出頭すべき旨仰せ出されたこと。
一、弘化二年巳十二月五日、松平庄兵衛の父主馬、芦田内匠の養父図書の儀は、以来隠居の御取り扱いになされる旨。
ただし主馬は天保十一年子三月蟄居、卯五月一家対面、同八月御咎御免。図書は天保十三年寅六月蟄居、卯五月一家対面、辰六月御咎御免。
一、延享三年寅八月二十一日、大御番加藤丹右衛門の父茂兵衛の儀は蟄居を仰せ付け置かれていたところ、御免になられるので、その段を丹右衛門へ申し聞かせるべきである。もっとも休息の趣旨で仰せ出された段を恒岡安左衛門へ申し渡した。
一、享和元年酉二月二日
牧野主膳の儀は隠居を仰せ付けられ、その段今日申し渡した。右につき
主膳の儀はこれまでの通り折々 渡辺十郎左衛門
御機嫌を窺い御座所へ出頭し、もっとも中之口で往来するよう、右の趣旨を
主膳へ申し聞かせるべきである。以後の御取り扱いは先年の恒岡如水同様と心得るべきである。
一、同三年亥二月二十二日 大宮彦右衛門
渥美新右衛門の儀は隠居を仰せ付けられるにつき、折々御機嫌伺いに
出頭すべきである。その節中之口で往来するよう、諸事小林
五右衛門、武田平右衛門同様の御取り扱いになされるので、左様に心得るべきである。
一、文化三年寅五月二十四日、稲葉図書方狛木工宅へ出向き、左の通り申し渡された。

However, when changing to retirement names and such, it should be as it has been until now.
1. In Hōreki 5, 10th month, when Kanazu Magistrate Hiramoto Tadami and Mi-no-bangai Hori Jūbei were appointed to retirement, the Senior Councilors requested that they appear together with their sons. However, as both men were unwell and could not appear, their sons went to the monthly duty residence to report this. Although the official business was difficult to assess, they first greeted that each should attend as appropriate, and reported this matter to the Senior Councilors. The next day when official business was announced, only the sons appeared and received the announcement. The matter was concluded with no handling of representatives or substitutes.
1. On Bunsei 6, 4th month, 10th day, at Edo, the following was announced through a written notice to Inspector Nakamura Tarōzaemon at Honda Chikugo's residence, and Tarōzaemon conveyed this to both men:
Regarding Daidōji Katsunoshin: due to his naturally foolish disposition and sickly constitution, he cannot fulfill his duties, so he should adopt an heir and request retirement. This should be conveyed to Daidōji Shōzaemon and Daidōji Shichiemon, who share the same surname as Katsunoshin.
1. The following was announced in Bunka 15, 3rd month:
1. Regarding internal requests for rest: since there have been many internal requests for rest from those younger than sixty-four or sixty-five years of age, this is not favored. Except for those who are unavoidably ill, there seem to be others making internal requests for personal convenience, but those capable of performing guard duty should avoid making internal requests for rest as much as possible, and the guard commanders should take even greater sincere care in this matter.
1. Regarding Takeda Yasaburō this time: he has been sickly for years and additionally suffers from eye disease, so it is unavoidable. Regarding Ōuchi Shichirobei: though he claims recent illness, it is not thought that he is incapable of performing guard duty. The guard commanders should keep this understanding in mind.
1. On Enkyō 3, 6th month, 11th day: Regarding Nakagawa Sōemon's father Chōu, since there had been prior consideration, he was appointed to rest, but henceforth he is appointed to retirement, so he should appear for audience at New Year ceremonies and such.
1. On Tenmei 8, 12th month, 8th day: Inoko Jūbei is granted retirement treatment through special consideration.
However, Jūbei was serving as magistrate when misconduct occurred, so on the 4th day of the 3rd month of last year, his stipend was confiscated, he was granted rest status, and his son Magojirō was given twenty-five koku and five-person rice allowance.
1. On Kanpō 1, 11th month, 11th day: Honda Gorōemon's father Toyota Iheiji was appointed to retirement status and was announced to appear at New Year ceremonies and such.
1. On Kōka 2, 12th month, 5th day:松平 Shōbei's father Shume and Ashida Takumi's adoptive father Zusho are henceforth granted retirement treatment.
However, Shume: Tenpō 11, 3rd month house arrest, 5th month family meeting, 8th month pardoned. Zusho: Tenpō 13, 6th month house arrest, 5th month family meeting, Tatsu 6th month pardoned.
1. On Enkyō 3, 8th month, 21st day: Regarding Great Guard Katō Tanemon's father Shigebei, who had been ordered to house arrest, he is pardoned, so this should be conveyed to Tanemon. The matter was conveyed to Tsunaoka Yasazaemon that this was announced as rest status.
1. Kyōwa 1, 2nd month, 2nd day:
Makino Shuzen is appointed to retirement, and this was conveyed today. Regarding this,
Shuzen should continue as before to occasionally Watanabe Jūrōzaemon
inquire after [the lord's] health and appear at the audience chamber, and should use the middle entrance for coming and going. This should be conveyed to
Shuzen. Future treatment should be understood to be the same as former Tsunaoka Josui.
1. Same 3rd year, 2nd month, 22nd day Ōmiya Hikoemon
Regarding Atsumi Shinemon's appointment to retirement, he should occasionally appear to
inquire after [the lord's] health. On such occasions he should use the middle entrance for coming and going, and in all matters he will receive the same treatment as Kobayashi
Goemon and Takeda Heiemon, so this should be understood accordingly.
1. On Bunka 3, 5th month, 24th day, [someone] went to Inaba Zusho's retainer Koma Takumi's residence and conveyed the following:
Regarding Takumi's illness, he is appointed to retirement as per his internal request, and to his son Chōkichi
