現代語訳
附 この時分は御定府にて御持弓頭・御先物頭が入り混じって江戸交代をしていた節の事である。
一同十二年午年八月 先帝崩御、京都御使いに御先物頭望月八郎右衛門が順番にあたり、同三日御用人並河一九郎宅にて御内意を申し聞かされ、同十七日表立って京都御使いを一九郎宅で申し渡された。
一宝暦十三年未年五月十六日 当冬朝鮮人来聘につき、御使者として御先物頭雨森太郎兵衛が評定所において御用番本多左門方から申し渡された。
一同年冬 御即位につき稲葉采女が差し越され、副使として御先物頭林又左衛門が酒井外記方宅で申し渡された。

一享保九年辰年十一月二十五日 波々伯部八左衛門へ「武芸師役の面々、知行取り並びに御切米二十石取りまで、探源寺様御代に親々が江戸交代仕った分、向後江戸詰めを仰せ付けられるので、その段申し渡すべき旨」を御家老中が申し渡した。
一元文四年未年八月九日 留大御番頭江戸詰めの順承りに遣わしても、彼方では急度順番を相極め置く品はなく、御役を仰せ付けられ江戸詰めがない者の内、先の御代から御留守詰めに仰せ付けられた趣の旨、御番頭から返答があった旨、留がある。

一寛延二年巳年二月十二日 御目付田辺五太夫が播州姫路・明石へ御使者を仰せ付けられ、御先筒組三人を御貸しになった。

右は今度御使者を仰せ付けられ罷り越すにつき、御座所の御居間において御目見を仰せ付けられ、畢わって御右筆部やにおいて御召御小袖拝領を仰せ付けられた旨、御用人が申し渡した。
横目役 跡部又八
右は五太夫に指し添えて罷り越すにつき、御座所の鉄砲の間において御目見を仰せ付けられた。
一文化元年子年七月十日 江戸表において大隅守様御不例につき、御見廻いのため御近習番頭取御膳番猪子六左衛門を指し越すべき旨、出立の儀は今一左右があった上で出立を仰せ付けるべき旨を六左衛門へ仰せ付けたが、同十二日に御凶事の段申し来たにつき、御使いを遣わすに及ばない旨、又々六左衛門へ仰せ付けた。
一寛保二年戌年十二月十八日 御先乗東郷仁右衛門に痛所があり、来る江戸御供の御道中、乗り掛けにて御供仕ることが難儀につき、駕にて御供仕りたい旨、前々御先乗が駕にて御供仕った者はないが、仁右衛門に痛所があり御用に差し支え申す品により、願いの通り仰せ付けられた旨。
但し去る十六日に願いを差し出し置いたこと。もっとも城下御行列の節は駿馬にて御供すべき旨。かつまた先年御供の節、乗り掛けにて難儀したため辻駕の儀を御目付まで相達し乗ったが、難儀の趣。
一天保四年巳年八月十七日 江戸にて雨森伝左衛門へ「本多内蔵助方がこの表へ来る午年三月中出府の御内意を仰せ出されたので、寛政の度の近例もあり、振合等の儀、諸事御聞番共と申し談じ引き受け取り調べるべし」御聞番両人へも右同断、雨森伝左衛門と申し談じ取り調べるべし。
但し翌年三月二十八日内蔵助方到着につき、御徒目付一人を芝口まで案内のため差し越した。
一延享二年丑年十一月九日 左の通り大谷助六方宅において御家老中列座し、助六方が申し渡された。月番奈良権左衛門が罷り出た。

Note: This was during a time when bow commanders and advance military commanders were mixed together in Edo rotation duty under the permanent residence system.
One: In the 12th year, Year of the Horse, 8th month - Upon the previous emperor's death, advance military commander Mochizuki Hachirōemon was appointed in rotation as envoy to Kyoto. On the 3rd day, he received private instructions at chief retainer Namikawa Ichikurō's residence, and on the 17th day, the official Kyoto envoy appointment was announced at Ichikurō's residence.
One: Hōreki 13, Year of the Sheep, 5th month, 16th day - Regarding the Korean embassy's visit this winter, advance military commander Amemori Tarōbei was appointed as envoy and received his orders from duty officer Honda Saemon at the council chamber.
One: Same year, winter - For the imperial enthronement, Inaba Uneme was dispatched, and advance military commander Hayashi Matazaemon was appointed as vice-envoy, receiving orders at Sakai Geki's residence.
One: Meiwa 1, Year of the Monkey, 11th month - As the young lord's hair ceremony was completed on the 4th day, advance military commander Ogawa Jibei was appointed as congratulatory envoy, with orders conveyed by chief retainer Iida Sakuzaemon.
One: Same year, same month - Advance military commander Miyakita Jūrōzaemon was appointed as envoy to acknowledge gifts received through an imperial messenger, handled in the same manner.
One: Established rule that those serving less than six months in Edo duty shall still count as one full term.
One: Kyōhō 9, Year of the Dragon, 11th month, 25th day - To Hahakabu Hachizaemon: "For martial arts instructors, stipend holders, and those receiving up to 20 koku rice stipend who had relatives serving Edo rotation duty during Lord Tangenji's time, henceforth Edo duty shall be appointed, and this should be announced," as conveyed by the senior councilors.
One: Genbun 4, Year of the Sheep, 8th month, 9th day - Even when requesting the order for stationed chief guard commanders for Edo duty, there was no established rotation system there. Among those not yet appointed to roles requiring Edo duty, those appointed to castle duty since the previous lord's time received this response from the guard commanders, as recorded.

One: Kan'en 2, Year of the Snake, 2nd month, 12th day - Inspector Tanabe Gotayū was appointed as envoy to Harima Province's Himeji and Akashi, with three advance musketeers lent to him.

Inspector Tanabe Gotayū
As he was appointed envoy and departed this time, he was granted audience in the lord's private chambers, and afterward was granted a ceremonial kimono at the secretaries' office, as announced by the chief retainer.
Surveillance officer Atobe Matahachi
As he accompanied Gotayū on departure, he was granted audience in the firearms room of the lord's quarters.
One: Bunka 1, Year of the Rat, 7th month, 10th day - Due to Lord Ōsumi's illness in Edo, personal attendant squad leader and meal service officer Inoko Rokuzaemon was to be dispatched for inquiry. Instructions were given that departure should wait for further word, but on the 12th day, news of death arrived, so instructions were given again to Rokuzaemon that sending an envoy was unnecessary.
One: Kanpō 2, Year of the Dog, 12th month, 18th day - Advance rider Tōgō Niemon had an injury and found it difficult to serve escort duty on horseback for the upcoming Edo escort journey, requesting to serve in a palanquin. Though previously no advance rider had served escort duty in a palanquin, given Niemon's injury would interfere with his duties, his request was granted.
However, the request was submitted on the 16th. For castle town processions, he should still serve escort on horseback. In previous years when escort duty on horseback proved difficult, he had reported to the inspectors about using street palanquins, but the difficulties continued.
One: Tenpō 4, Year of the Snake, 8th month, 17th day - In Edo, to Amemori Denzaemon: "As Honda Kuranosuke will come to this region and private instructions were issued for departure to the capital in the 3rd month of the Year of the Horse, there are recent precedents from the Kansei era, so regarding procedures and all matters, consult with the intelligence officers and undertake arrangements." The same instructions to both intelligence officers to consult with Amemori Denzaemon and make arrangements.
However, when Kuranosuke arrived on the 28th day of the 3rd month of the following year, one foot inspector was dispatched to Shiba entrance as guide.
One: Kyōhō 2, Year of the Ox, 11th month, 9th day - As follows, at Ōtani Sukeroku's residence with senior councilors in attendance, orders were given by Sukeroku. Monthly duty officer Nara Gonzaemon appeared.
Acting for Honda Kuranosuke due to illness

Kuranosuke has not yet appeared in Edo since inheriting the family headship.
It is thought advisable that he come to the capital regarding the change of reign. The timing of coming to the capital will be announced later, but he should understand it to be around early 3rd month, and private instructions were issued for preparation. A separate written notice was provided to be conveyed to Kuranosuke.
One: Kyōhō 3, Year of the Tiger, 10th month, 5th day - Due to Lord Yamato's indisposition in Himeji, personal military commander Ōta Saburōbei and court physician Mashimo Sōen were urgently dispatched to Himeji for inquiry. On the 10th day, Sasaki Kozaemon was again appointed as envoy and departed on the 13th day.
