現代語訳

神輿入道は我が子に違いないので涙を浮かべ、過ぎし昔のことを思い出し、踊りも見ずにしょんぼりと帰る。涙を拭きたいにも手は着物の外に置いてきたから仕方がない、帰りましょう。

「東西東西、この度大猿が下り、人間の子、あまりに珍しきものゆえ、これを囲い置き、召し使わせんと存じ、お目にかけまする。一通りにてお慰みも薄うございますれば、少しばかり合わせまして所作事を相勤めまする。まずは踊りの始まり始まり。

ご見物様方、古い堂宮の縁の下へお帰りなされ、ご評判のほど、ひとえに願い立てまつります」

英語訳

Mikoshi Nyudo, certain this was his child, tears welled up in his eyes as he recalled the past, and without watching the performance, he dejectedly returned home. He wanted to wipe away his tears, but his hands were left outside his kimono, so there was nothing he could do - he had to go home.

"Hear ye, hear ye! This time a great monkey has come down, bringing a human child - such a rare thing that we have kept it here and intend to employ it for your entertainment. Since a simple performance would provide little amusement, we shall have it perform various stage arts together with others. First, let the dancing begin!

Honorable spectators, please return to beneath the eaves of the old shrine, and we humbly beseech you for your favorable reviews."
