現代語訳

密道は母の教えに従い、大入道へ七日間断食して「少しなりとも人間を離れ、化け物らしき姿にしてください」と一心に祈った。七日が満ちると大権現が現れて言った。

「善哉善哉、我は大入道なり。汝、いったん人間と生まれれば化け物の跡を相続せんとは叶わぬ願いなれども、これまで色々と艱難して化け損ない、一心に我を祈る心ざしに免じ、我が所持せし眼の内、そなたに一つ与えるなり。随分修行して化け物の頭ともなるべし。『三（み）つ道（とう）』の文字を割って『め入る』と書き入れ、これより三つ目入道となるべし。決して疑うことなかれ。」

その後、この権現を一目大権現と化け物仲間にて尊敬した。

英語訳

Mitsudō followed his mother's teaching and fasted for seven days while praying earnestly to Dainyugdō: "Please make me depart from human form, even if just a little, and give me the appearance of a monster." When the seven days were complete, the Daigongen appeared and spoke:

"Excellent, excellent! I am Dainyugdō. Though you were born human, your wish to inherit the way of monsters is normally impossible to fulfill. However, considering your various hardships in your failed attempts at transformation and your sincere devotion in praying to me, I shall give you one of my eyes. Practice diligently and you shall become a leader among monsters. Split the characters of your name 'Mitsudō' (三つ道) and insert 'me' (目) to write 'me iru' (目入る). From now on you shall become Mitsume-nyūdō (Three-Eyed Priest). Never doubt this."

Thereafter, the monsters revered this deity as Hitotsu-me Daigongen (One-Eyed Great Avatar).
