現代語訳

御輿入道は品々修行して此の山に来たりしが、折しも大雪にて難儀する。

「ああ、降ったる雪かな。我、若かりし時、お雪が色香に迷い、雪を仲立ちに邂逅の語らいをなせしが、それも雪、これも雪、変わり果てたる浮世じゃなあ。」

「申し申し女ら、此の大雪にわが家へも何処へも行き難し。とうぞその首端になりとも一夜の宿をお頼み申す。」

「[かすれて不明]なれども、ここは宿屋にては[不明]なれば、お宿は申されませぬ。他をお頼みなされませ。」

英語訳

Mikoshi Nyudo had been practicing various austerities and came to this mountain, but it happened to be during a heavy snowfall, causing him great difficulty.

"Ah, what heavy snow has fallen. When I was young, I was enchanted by O-Yuki's beauty and charm, and made snow the go-between for our chance encounters and conversations. But that too was snow, this too is snow - what a changed and transient world this is."

"Excuse me, women, in this heavy snow it's difficult to go to my home or anywhere else. Please, even if it's just at the edge of your place, I beg you for lodging for one night."

"[Text unclear due to fading]... however, this is not an inn, so we cannot offer you lodging. Please try elsewhere."
