て。燒酎（せうちう）に二日ばかりつけおき。澤（かす）を
しぼりすて。魚膠（にべ）百匁に。水一升ほ
ど入。よく煮（に）て。五合ばかりに成たる
とき。安息香（あんそくかう）の焼酎（せうちう）を加へ。かきまぜ
て膠飴（みづあめ）のごとくなりたるときに。
火より下し。細布（めのこまかきぬの）または絹（きぬ）にのべて
貯（たくはへ）おくなり。これを略（りやく）して水透膠（じゆうすきにかは）
とよぶものに水を入。煮（に）とかしたる
を。紙にのべたるを。即功紙（そくこうし）といふて
うるものあり。かろきものには用べ
し。この魚膠膏（にべのかうやく）は。擦破（すりやぶり）たる創（きず）。金刃（きり）

にするには。黄蘗（わうばく）を煎（せん）じて入るなり。

現代語訳
て、焼酎に二日ばかり浸けおき、かすを絞り捨てる。魚膠百匁に水一升ほど入れ、よく煮て、五合ばかりになった時、安息香の焼酎を加え、かき混ぜて水飴のようになった時に火から下ろし、目の細かい布または絹に延ばして貯えておく。これを略して水透膠というものに水を入れ、煮溶かしたものを紙に延ばしたものを、即功紙といって売っているものがある。軽い傷には使うべきである。この魚膠膏は、擦り破った創傷、刃物傷の浅いもの、鼻をこすって傷ついたものなどにも用いることができ、かつ唾液で湿らせて貼るだけで、手早く便利なので、旅行や番兵などは、懐に入れておくと効果があるものである。即功紙の色を黄色にするには、黄柏を煎じて入れるのである。

Soak it in shōchū for about two days, then squeeze out and discard the dregs. Add about one shō of water to one hundred monme of fish glue and boil well. When it is reduced to about five gō, add the benzoin-infused shōchū and stir. When it becomes like mizuame (starch syrup), remove from heat and spread on fine cloth or silk to store. This is abbreviated and called "water-transparent glue" - when water is added to this and it is boiled and dissolved, then spread on paper, it is called "sokukōshi" (instant effect paper) and is sold. This should be used for light wounds. This fish glue plaster can be used for abrasions, shallow blade wounds, nasal abrasions, etc., and since it is applied simply by moistening with saliva and attaching it, and is quick and convenient, it is effective for travelers and guards to carry in their pockets. To make the sokukōshi yellow in color, add a decoction of ōbaku (Phellodendron bark).
