ちやうすはひといろのやく
なれはさしきにいてもち
いられひきうすはなん

【右丁】
茶道具は一色の薬（釉薬）なので、茶事に出ても重宝され、挽き臼は何でもこなせるとしつこく言うやつで、三度の手間か四度とはいかず二度も自慢する。生け花も口元の稽古にして、また俳諧にかかり、甚六という名前を広めようと摺り物を大方小に三十五遍も摺りにして、もう俳諧をするという顔で歩きつける始末などはさておき、三句の渡り、てにをはの区別も知らず、夜にはそんぞそこの（そこそこの）

俳諧で孕み句を四つ五つこしらえ、前の句にも構わず夢中でやたらに付けてみれば、主筆の働きで、てれんでもなると大の高慢。それからその句を行く先で使い回しているのは、沢庵の石を六つも七つも置くようなものである。

Since tea utensils have a single-color glaze, they are valued even when brought to tea ceremonies. As for the grinding mortar, he's the type who persistently claims it can handle anything, and boasts about it not four times but at least twice out of three attempts. He makes flower arrangement practice for his speech, and then takes up haikai poetry. To spread the name "Jinroku," he prints broadsides mostly in small format, printing them thirty-five times over. Now walking around with the face of one who composes haikai - setting aside such behavior - he doesn't know the transitions between three verses or the proper use of particles, and in the evening he's just so-so...

In haikai, he creates four or five "pregnant verses" (setup verses), and without regard for the previous verse, frantically and randomly adds continuation verses. When this becomes the main writer's work and turns into something decent, he becomes extremely arrogant. Then reusing those verses wherever he goes is like placing six or seven stones on pickled radish.
