【右丁】
例えの節に「総領の甚六」と兄の名前はいくらでも世間にある物だが、弟の名前は良かろうと思い、親父の思いつきで付けたけれども、百の口が四文銭で十六文、ほとんど抜け穴。一をすればいつでも金着の底を叩いたタコを開けると、糸目ばかりを持ち、目隠しの鬼になると手前ばかりがいじめられ、その上百との貸し鬼になれば始末が悪い。

鬼の頭は抜けず、殿様ごっこをして遊ぼうとしても馬になり、草履隠しは貝を食って背中を土だらけにし、染みになる着物は鼻から知れる。兄の吉松は友達付き合いもせず、寛学院の雀はもう季節を囀り、四千と下一輪を見習い、前髪の内から算盤割りまで覚え、弟の甚六を見て気の毒に思う。
