という数珠で、紫金でこれを造る。四十二粒ある《割書：切支丹国四十二国あり、これに擬す》。埋朱の台に積む。信長は猪子兵助を使ってウルカンに何のために日本に来たのかと尋問された。通辞の者が双方へ伝言するに、ウルカン答えて曰く、「この度渡来することは、ただ仏法を弘めたい願望、弘法のためのほか更に他の事はない」と達す。信長は謁見を終えて妙法寺に入れ置き、中泉藤左衛門を奉行として饗応す。ウルカンが弘法のことを安土において評議あり。文教院桃仙等が申し止めるといえども、信長は承引しない。菅谷九右衛門に命じて京都四条坊門に四町四方の地を

They are placed on a vermillion lacquered stand. Nobunaga had Inoko Hyōsuke ask Urucan what purpose brought him to Japan. When the interpreter conveyed messages between both parties, Urucan answered, saying, "My coming this time has no other purpose than my desire to spread the Buddhist Law [Christianity]; there is nothing else beyond propagating the faith." After Nobunaga finished the audience, he had him lodged at Myōhōji temple and appointed Nakaizumi Tōzaemon as magistrate to provide hospitality. Regarding Urucan's propagation of the faith, there was deliberation at Azuchi. Although Bunkyōin, Tōsen and others advised against it, Nobunaga would not consent [to stopping it].
