ヲ付タル物彼者共ノ肌ヲ脫セ彼クルスヲ以テ
脊ヲ抓ムシル骨痛ミ血流レ出ル漓ル所ノ血ヲ
以テ左右ノ手ニ塗テ兩手ヲ合セテ帝釋天ノ畫

を付けた物である。彼らに肌を脱がせて、その十字架をもって背中を引っ掻いて傷つけ、骨が痛み血が流れ出る。流れ出た血をもって左右の手に塗り、両手を合わせて帝釈天の画像を拝ませる。（割書：この宗派の礼拝の式は南蛮の礼を行うがゆえに、日本で仏を拝する時の礼とは異なると言われる。死際の悪を喜ぶというのは、未来永劫の苦に替わるという心なるべし。）金襴の戸張を巻き上げると、容貌美麗な女体の尊容で、懐中に小児を抱き、乳を含ませている本尊が口伝である。玉の冠を戴き、身に七宝の衣を着ている。両名のバテレンが示して言うことには「この帝釈天は智慧を世界に降し、汝等の悲苦をもって、母が子を懐に抱き入れ乳の味を飲ませる

When the gold brocade curtain was rolled up, there was revealed the principal deity according to oral tradition: a sacred form of beautiful female figure holding a small child in her bosom and giving it milk to suckle. She wore a jeweled crown and was clothed in garments of the seven treasures. Both padres pointed to it and said: "This Indra brings down wisdom to the world, and through your sorrows and sufferings, like a mother holding her child in her embrace and giving it the taste of milk
