と申しましたところ、玄以の申す条は最もでございます。当時無謂に御破却ということになれば、騒動の程は計り難く候。諸宗に命じて新宗と宗論を行い、僧家が勝つことができれば、新宗は正法でございますから今少し行末をご覧になるべきです。新宗が負ければ邪法に紛れもない上は、きっと停止をお仰せ付けになっても、少しも違背する者はないでしょうと申しましたところ、信長はその儀に同意し、諸宗の僧家並びに南蛮寺へも命ぜられ、宗論の期日を定められました。これは大切な宗論であるということで、僧家には南禅寺の印長老、浄華院の理道和尚、永観堂の深海律師、その外諸宗の碩学が安土に到着して下着しました。南蛮寺よりの論師は新宗の後
