人間ナリ人ノ智慧ヲ以テ人ヲ助ルヿ思モ寄ス
釋迦ノ佛法ハ乞食ノ境界ヲ本トシテ世人ノ惠
ミ施シヲ以テ身命ヲ保チ其施物スル人ハ其功
德ヲ以テ佛果ヲ得ルト云ヘリ然ラハ施物ナキ
貧人乞食等ハ永劫佛果ヲ得スヤ我南蠻四十二
國天帝如來ヲ尊フカ故ニ國ニ飢タル乞食ナク
苦患ヲ受ル病人ナシ國ハ山海ノ間ヨリ始ルカ
故ニ欲ナシ欲ナキカ故ニ罪業ナシ罪業ナキカ
故ニ報ヒナシ故ニ人間ニ居テ天上ノ果ヲ受ク
是卽身成佛ト云ナリ釋迦彌陀本ト人間ナルカ

人間である。人の智慧をもって人を助けることなど思いもよらない。釈迦の仏法は乞食の境界を本として、世の人の恵み・施しをもって身命を保ち、その施物をする人はその功徳をもって仏果を得ると言っている。それならば施物のない貧人・乞食等は永劫仏果を得ないのか。我が南蛮四十二国は天帝如来を尊ぶが故に、国に飢えた乞食なく、苦患を受ける病人なし。国は山海の間より始まるが故に欲なし。欲なきが故に罪業なし。罪業なきが故に報いなし。故に人間に居て天上の果報を受く。これ即身成仏というなり。釈迦・弥陀は本来人間であるが

human beings. It is unthinkable that they could help people through human wisdom. Shakyamuni's Buddhist teachings are based on the realm of beggars, sustaining life through the compassion and alms of worldly people, and it is said that those who give such offerings obtain Buddhahood through their merit. If so, do the poor and beggars who have nothing to offer never attain Buddhahood throughout eternity? Our forty-two countries of the Southern Barbarians revere Tentai Nyorai, and therefore there are no starving beggars in the land, nor sick people suffering from ailments. The country begins from between mountains and seas, therefore there is no desire. Because there is no desire, there is no sinful karma. Because there is no sinful karma, there is no retribution. Therefore, while dwelling in the human realm, one receives heavenly rewards. This is called sokushin jōbutsu (attaining Buddhahood in this very body).
