シメテ。而後イルマントナシテ。渠ヲシテ。法要ヲ
說シム。爰ニ於テ虛妄ノ手段ヲ設テ。諸人ヲ誑惑
ス。先。自法ノ理路ヲアラワサス。他宗ノ教門ヲ謗
ラス。只布施愛語ヲ以テ。人ヲシテ其恩惠ニナツ
カシメ。而後ニ時々軟語ヲ出シテ。ヒソカニ自法
ヲ讚シ暗ニ他宗ヲソシル。其聼法人ノ。半信半不
信ノ時ニ至テ。ソノ人ニ告テ曰。キリシタン宗旨
ノ勝劣。法門ノ根源ヲ聼取セヨ。モシ我法汝カ心
ニ相應セスンハ。汝カ本宗ノ旨ヲ守ルベシ。若又
我宗ノ本源ヲ會得セハ。ワカ宗門ニ歸スベシト
現代語訳
させて、その後イルマンとなして、彼らをして法要を説かしめる。ここにおいて虚妄の手段を設けて、諸人を誑惑する。まず、自法の理路を現わさず、他宗の教門を謗らず、ただ布施愛語を以て、人をしてその恩恵になつかしめ、その後に時々軟語を出して、ひそかに自法を讃じ暗に他宗をそしる。その聴法人の、半信半不信の時に至って、その人に告げて曰く「キリシタン宗旨の勝劣、法門の根源を聴取せよ。もし我が法汝が心に相応せずんば、汝が本宗の旨を守るべし。若しまた我が宗の本源を会得せば、我が宗門に帰すべし」と。

and then made them into Irmãos (lay brothers), having them preach religious doctrines. Here they employed deceptive methods to deceive and confuse the people. First, they would not openly reveal the principles of their own faith, nor would they openly slander the teachings of other religions. Instead, they would use charitable giving and kind words to make people grateful for their benevolence. Then, from time to time, they would speak gentle words, secretly praising their own faith while subtly disparaging other religions. When their listeners reached a state of half-belief and half-doubt, they would tell such people: "Listen and learn about the superiority or inferiority of the Christian faith and the source of its teachings. If our doctrine does not accord with your heart, you should maintain the principles of your original religion. But if you comprehend the true source of our religion, then you should convert to our faith."
