根奈志具佐三之巻
去程に竜宮城には先達て閻魔（ゑんま）大王の勅命
を蒙りければ急ぎ菊之丞を召捕べき評定
あるべしと諸の鱗（うろくず）ども列を正して相詰ければ
竜王仰出さるゝは我閻魔王の幕下（ばくか）に属（しよく）し此
水中界の主となり多の鱗（うろくず）を養ふ事皆大
王の御恩なればかゝる時節に忠義を尽さずんは
いつの世にかは御恩を報じ奉んやしかはあれど
も世界をへだてゝの事なれば容易（たやす）く取り
得る事かたかるべし若此度の御用を仕損じ

そうこうしているうちに、竜宮城では先だって閻魔大王の勅命を受けていたので、急いで菊之丞を捕らえるべき評定を行うことになった。諸々の魚たちが列を正して集まったところ、竜王が仰せになるには、「我は閻魔王の配下に属し、この水中界の主となり、多くの魚を養うことは、皆大王のご恩によるものである。このような時節に忠義を尽くさなければ、いつの世にご恩をお返し申し上げることができようか。しかしながら、世界を隔てての事なので、容易に捕らえることは難しいであろう。もしこの度のお役目を失敗すれば」
