なば其 祟（たゝり）は三途川の川ざらへか極楽の御 修（しゆ）
覆（ふく）など仰付られては近年は押なべて金魚
銀魚の手はまはらずほう〴〵より緋（ひ）鯉にせつ
かれ世間のしびも白魚のひしことつまり
し時節なれば甚難義たるべし若 逆鱗（げきりん）つ
よき時は我々此水中を離（はなれ）ていかなる所へか
追立られんもし三十三天の内などへ左遷（させん）など
とある時は道中にて皆々 枯魚（ひもの）となるべければ
仮初（かりそめ）ならぬ一大事急き菊々丞を召捕（めしとる）へ□思
案あるべしとの仰一の上座に坐し居たる鯨（くじら）ゆう
〳〵と立出申けるは仰の通り御上の御大事此時
なり私義は身不 肖（せう）ながら家がらたるを以て代々
大老職相勤是に並居る鰐（わに）鯊魚（ふか）なんども家老
の座に連りしびまぐろなどは用人を勤むれば
彼等とも内々評議致せし処 所詮（しよせん）人界の様子
委く聞届たる上ならでは謀（はかりこと）は出まじく存付手下
の者共の内にて才覚（さいかく）ある者どもを忍びに遣し
置たれば定て様子相知れなんと申詞も終らぬ
処へ御注進と呼はり〳〵真黒（まつくろ）になりてころ〳〵と
こけ出るは本庄辺に住居する業平蜆（なりひらしじみ）にてぞ
現代語訳
なれば、その祟りは三途川の川浚えか極楽の修復などを仰せつけられては、近年は押しなべて金魚や銀魚の手は回らず、方々より緋鯉にせつかれ、世間の鮪も白魚のように困窮した時節なので、甚だ難義であろう。もし逆鱗が強い時は、我々はこの水中を離れて、いかなる所へか追い立てられるであろう。もし三十三天の内などへ左遷などということになれば、道中にて皆々干物となってしまうであろうから、軽々しくない一大事である。急いで菊之丞を召し捕るべき思案があるべし」との仰せである。一の上座に座していた鯨がゆうゆうと立ち出て申すには、「仰せの通り、お上の御大事はこの時です。私は身不肖ながら家柄であることから、代々大老職を相勤め、これに並び居る鰐や鮫なども家老の座に連なり、鰤や鮪などは用人を勤めております。彼らとも内々に評議致しましたところ、所詮人界の様子を詳しく聞き届けた上でなければ謀は出まじく存じつき、手下の者どもの内にて才覚ある者どもを忍びに遣わし置きましたので、きっと様子が分かるでしょう」と申す言葉も終わらぬところへ、「御注進」と呼ばわりながら真っ黒になってころころと転げ出るのは、本庄辺に住居する業平蜆であった。
