一御輿再建之時分ニ町年寄衆鉾持へ御出
被成御輿を仕立可申候もり人御 弐左も被下
可申由年寄衆御申被成其時我々申様ニそれハ
三人之祢宜衆御もり可被成候昔ゟ代々もり来り
申候由我々申詰候ヘハ町中年寄衆被申様ニ宮
本乍大儀もり候様ニと様々御申被成候へ共我々
昔より百姓之儀ニ御座候へハ権現様祢宜之
役義罷成間敷由言切申候其時祢宜衆被申
様ニ其儀ニは御輿壱社御仕立可被下候左も候ハヽ我々
たまだすきにてもり可申候条壱社御仕立くれ
可被下候由被申候就其宇兵衛殿市右衛門殿忠左衛門殿
扱被申様ニすいさんなから扱申候三社之義ニ御座候処ニ
扨々壱社ニ而者いかゝニ御座候間自然 御公儀様ゟ
御神領も重り申候ハヽ其時者祢宜衆計にて御もり可被成候
それ無御座候ハヽ宮町半分祢宜衆半分御もり
其上参銭之儀も当分と御扱被成相済申処ニ
又候哉今度参銭三ツにて御座候由祢宜衆右之左之
と申候もはや此上之儀ハ宮町之者共半祢宜之儀ニ

言上書
一、御神輿再建の際に、町年寄衆が鉾持へお出でになり、「御神輿を仕立てるつもりで、守り人を二人差し上げる」と年寄衆がおっし�になりました。その時我々が申し上げたのは、「それは三人の祢宜衆がお守りになるべきです。昔から代々守ってまいりました」と我々が申し詰めたところ、町中年寄衆がおっしゃるには、「宮本（神社関係者）には大儀でしょうが守ってください」と様々におっしゃいましたが、我々は「昔より百姓の身分でございますので、権現様の祢宜の役目は務まりません」と言い切りました。その時祢宜衆がおっしゃったのは、「その儀であれば御神輿一社をお仕立てください。そうであれば我々が襷をかけて守りましょう。一社お仕立てください」とおっしゃいました。
それについて宇兵衛殿、市右衛門殿、忠左衛門殿が仲裁なさって、「推参ながら仲裁いたします。三社の件でございますが、さて一社では如何でございましょうか。自然と御公儀様から御神領も重くなりましたら、その時は祢宜衆だけでお守りなさってください。それがなければ宮町半分、祢宜衆半分でお守りし、その上参銭の件も当分ということでお取り計らいになり解決したところに、また今度参銭三つということで祢宜衆があれこれ申しております。もはやこの上の件は宮町の者共と祢宜の件でございますので、殿様から下される九俵ずつの御条米を我々にも、または大島の祢宜衆にも御配分なさって、御神事を仕るよう仰せつけられたく存じます。以上

Petition
Regarding the reconstruction of the portable shrine, the town elders came to Hokomochi village and said, "We intend to construct a portable shrine and will provide two guardians." At that time, we stated, "The three shrine priests should guard it, as they have done for generations since ancient times." When we insisted on this, the town elders said in various ways, "Although it may be burdensome for the shrine officials, please guard it." However, we firmly stated, "Since we have been farmers from ancient times, we cannot perform the duties of priests for Gongen-sama."
At that time, the shrine priests said, "If that is the case, please construct one portable shrine. If so, we will guard it wearing sashes. Please construct one shrine for us."
Regarding this matter, Uhyōe-dono, Ichiuemon-dono, and Chūzaemon-dono mediated, saying, "Although presumptuous, we will mediate. This concerns three shrines, but how about just one shrine? If naturally the government increases the shrine territory, then only the shrine priests should guard it. If not, half should be from the shrine town and half shrine priests. Furthermore, the matter of offering money was settled for the time being through mediation, but now the shrine priests are making various claims about the offering money being three portions.
Since this matter now concerns both the shrine town people and the priests, we respectfully request that the nine bags of rice granted by our lord be distributed to us as well, or to the priests of Ōshima, so that we may conduct the shrine rituals. The above.
