The method is as follows. Place 15,129 *tsubo* in the dividend (*jitsu*) position. First, examine the place values in the dividend, counting "ones, tens, hundreds — ones, tens, hundreds" in this manner, tallying upward. Upon doing so, the middle position is designated "hundreds," establishing it as the hundreds place; accordingly, place "100" in the quotient (*shō*). In this same arrangement, count "ones, tens, hundreds" upward in the Lower Method (*kahō*) position and place "100" there as well. Then, using the divisor (*hō*) position, align it with the row above the hundreds in the Lower Method. When one applies the multiplication table (*kuku*) to the "100" in the quotient and the "100" in the Lower Method, the result — "one times one is 10,000 *tsubo*" — is placed in the divisor (*hō*), and this amount is subtracted from the dividend (*jitsu*).
Remainder: 5,129 *tsubo*
