【巻上三十三丁裏】
相場（さうは）五百弐拾八匁を四十四にわれは金壱匁に付
銀拾二匁つつになるこれを金廿五匁にかくれは
銀三百目としるへし
皆初心成人は如此に置（おく）也是はことによりて
あわぬさん用なり そのしようこあり
金七匁四分八り有を判金の相場（さうは）五百目／替（かへ）の時
五百目を四拾四て割は金壱匁に付銀十壱匁三分
六り三毛六糸三／忽（こつ）つつにあたる也是にみきの
金七匁四分八りをかくれは
○銀八拾四匁九分九り九毛九糸五忽に成也

現代語訳
相場五百二十八匁を四十四で割れば、金一匁につき銀十二匁ずつになる。これを金二十五匁に掛ければ、銀三百目と知るべし。
初心者はみなこのように（計算を）置くものである。しかしこれは場合によっては合わない（誤りが生じる）計算法である。そのことを示す証拠がある。
金七匁四分八厘がある時、判金の相場五百目替えの時、五百目を四十四で割れば、金一匁につき銀十一匁三分六厘三毛六糸三忽ずつにあたる。これに右の金七匁四分八厘を掛ければ、
○銀八十四匁九分九厘九毛九糸五忽になる。
このようにして端数が入り込んで（割り切れず）、合わせられない悪い計算（法）である。
金七匁四分八厘がある時、判金の相場五百目替えとして、右の金に銀がどれほどになるかと問う時に、
○銀八十五匁になるという。
計算法：金七匁四分八厘に相場五百目を掛ければ三七四〇になる。これを四十四で割れば八十五匁と知るべし。これが良い計算法である。この考え方は万事に応用できる。
銀八十五匁がある時に、判金の相場五百目として、右の銀に金がどれほどになるかと問う時に、
○金七匁四分八厘になるという。
英語訳
Dividing the exchange rate of 528 monme by 44, each 1 monme of gold corresponds to 12 monme of silver. Multiplying this by 25 monme of gold, one should know the result is 300 me of silver.
All beginners set up calculations in this manner. However, depending on the case, this is a calculation method that does not work out correctly. There is proof of this.
When there are 7 monme 4 bu 8 rin of gold, and the exchange rate of ban'kin is 500 me, dividing 500 me by 44, each 1 monme of gold corresponds to 11 monme 3 bu 6 rin 3 mō 6 shi 3 kotsu of silver. Multiplying this by the said 7 monme 4 bu 8 rin of gold:
○It becomes 84 monme 9 bu 9 rin 9 mō 9 shi 5 kotsu of silver.
Calculated in this way, remainders accumulate and it cannot be reconciled — this is a poor calculation method.
When there are 7 monme 4 bu 8 rin of gold, with the ban'kin exchange rate at 500 me, when asking how much silver the said gold becomes:
○It becomes 85 monme of silver.
Method: Multiplying 7 monme 4 bu 8 rin of gold by the exchange rate of 500 me gives 3,740. Dividing this by 44, one should know the result is 85 monme. This is the correct calculation method. This approach is useful in all manner of situations.
When there are 85 monme of silver, with the ban'kin exchange rate at 500 me, when asking how much gold the said silver becomes:
○It becomes 7 monme 4 bu 8 rin of gold.
