【巻上五十七丁裏】
をきてかくれは五七六と成 又ひたりにふかさ
一尺八寸にそこのとかり六寸をくわへる
二尺四寸となる これを右の五七六にかくれは
一三八二四と成 是に三三かくれは四五六一九二
と成 これに円（まるき）法八をかくれは三六四九五三六と
なる これにむかしますの法十六をかくれは
五斗八升四合になる也 ○口九寸を左右に置（をき）
かくれは八一と成 これに高三寸をかくれは二四三
になる也 是に円法八をかくれは一九四四と成
是にますの法十六をかくる時三升一合壱勺也

とがりを引はらふ也 六寸左右に置（おき）かくれは三六

置いて掛けると五七六となる。また左に深さ一尺八寸に底の尖り六寸を加えると二尺四寸となる。これを右の五七六に掛けると一三八二四となる。これに三三を掛けると四五六一九二となる。これに円（丸いもの）の法則八を掛けると三六四九五三六となる。これに昔の枡の法則十六を掛けると五斗八升四合になる。○口九寸を左右に置いて掛けると八一となる。これに高さ三寸を掛けると二四三になる。これに円の法則八を掛けると一九四四となる。これに枡の法則十六を掛けると三升一合一勺である。

右の胴と口を合わせて六斗一升五合一勺。この内から底の尖りを引き払う。六寸を左右に置いて掛けると三六となる。これに深さ六寸を掛けると二一六となる。これに三三を掛けると七一二八となる。これに丸いものの法則八を掛けると五七〇二四となる。これに枡の法則十六を掛けると九合一勺になる。右の六斗一升五合一勺の内から九合一勺を引いた残りで六斗六合と記すのである。

When this is multiplied by the above 576, it becomes 13,824. Multiplying this by 33 gives 456,192. Multiplying this by the circular formula 8 gives 3,649,536. When this is multiplied by the old measure formula 16, it becomes 5 to 8 shō 4 gō. ○ When the mouth of 9 sun is placed left and right and multiplied, it becomes 81. Multiplying this by the height of 3 sun gives 243. Multiplying this by the circular formula 8 gives 1,944. When this is multiplied by the measure formula 16, it equals 3 shō 1 gō 1 shaku.

The body and mouth combined total 6 to 1 shō 5 gō 1 shaku. From this interior, the pointed bottom must be subtracted. When 6 sun is placed left and right and multiplied, it becomes 36. Multiplying this by the depth of 6 sun gives 216. Multiplying this by 33 gives 7,128. Multiplying this by the circular formula 8 gives 57,024. When this is multiplied by the measure formula 16, it becomes 9 gō 1 shaku. Subtracting 9 gō 1 shaku from the above 6 to 1 shō 5 gō 1 shaku leaves a remainder that is recorded as 6 to 6 gō.
