差し候様に、これ又先格の通り申し付くべきと存じ候。前々より右の趣に
御座候間、念のため使者をもって御届け申し入れ候。以上。

一、三月十九日、本多内蔵助（富紹）、出府の御届けのため、御老中・若年寄中へ廻
勤。その節、御先手・徳山五兵衛殿に御頼みし、御同道あり。内蔵助、廻勤
相仕舞い、直にお屋敷へ罷り出、廻勤相済み候御礼申し上げ、御目見を仰せ付けられ。
一、同月二十一日、御登城（昨二十日、御用番より御老中連名の御切紙来る）。殿上の間へお揃いなされ
候ところ、御目付中より御案内あり。それより大広間の御下段の上より御次の
間へ掛け、四品以上ならびに一万石以上の御方、御嫡子まで御着座の後、
出御あり。その節、御用番・松平能登守（乗賢）殿より、御法令を仰せ出だされる旨、御
達あり。上意あり、御一統、恐悦の段を仰せ上げられ。畢（おわり）て、入御以後、
御法令を御文台に載せ、御中段にて林大学頭（信充）殿、御読み渡しあり。相済み、御
老中へ恐悦の旨、御一統にて仰せ述べられ。それより西丸へ御登城。
大御所様・大納言様へ御祝儀を仰せ上げ。大広間において御奏者番・松平
備中守（正員）殿・秋元摂津（涼朝）殿に謁せられた。
但し、右の御法令の御条目は、享保二丁酉年に仰せ出だされ候と同様に
つき、記さず。

[He] shall use [the long-handled umbrella] in like manner — this too we intend to instruct in accordance with prior precedent. As the above has been the established practice from the outset, we hereby notify you through a messenger as a precautionary measure. Respectfully submitted.
Retainer of Matsudaira Hyōbu-no-taifu
Eighteenth day of the third month Asai Genzaemon
Item: On the nineteenth day of the third month, Honda Kuranosuke (Tomi-tsugu/Fushō) made rounds of visits (kaikin) to the Senior Councillors (rōjū) and Junior Councillors (wakadoshiyori) to formally notify them of his arrival in Edo. On that occasion, he requested the assistance of and was accompanied by the Commander of the Advance Guard (o-sakte), Lord Tokuyama Gohei. After completing his rounds of visits, Kuranosuke proceeded directly to [his lord's] residence, reported the completion of his rounds, and was granted an audience.
Item: On the twenty-first day of the same month, [the lord] proceeded to the castle (on the twentieth day — the previous day — an official notice bearing the joint signatures of the Senior Councillors arrived from the Duty Councillor). Assembling in the Tenjō-no-ma, the Inspector (o-metsuke) officials provided guidance. Thereafter, [the lords] were seated from above the lower dais (ge-dan) of the Great Hall (Ōhiroma) extending into the adjacent room (o-tsugi-no-ma), covering those of the Fourth Rank and above as well as lords of ten thousand koku and above, including their designated heirs. After all were seated, His Presence (the Shogun) appeared. At that time, the Duty Councillor, Lord Matsudaira Noto-no-kami (Noriyoshi), announced that a Decree (go-hōrei) was to be proclaimed by His Lordship's command. An august pronouncement was made, and all in attendance expressed their reverent joy (kyōetsu). After this was concluded and His Presence had retired, the Decree was placed upon the writing stand (bundai) and read aloud by Lord Hayashi Daigaku-no-kami (Nobumitsu) from the middle dais (chūdan). Upon completion, all in attendance conveyed their expressions of reverent joy to the Senior Councillors. Thereafter, [the lord] proceeded to the castle of the West Enclosure (Nishi-no-maru) to offer congratulations to the Ōgosho-sama [the Retired Shogun] and the Dainagon-sama [the Middle Counselor]. In the Great Hall, [the lord] was received by the Chamberlains (sōja-ban) Lord Matsudaira Bichū-no-kami (Masaomi) and Lord Akimoto Settsu (Ryōtomo).
Note: As the articles of the aforementioned Decree are identical to those proclaimed in the second year of Kyōhō (1717, the year of the Fire Rooster), they are not recorded here.
