加持祈禱（かぢきたう）之談義
諸生の内に一人すゝみ出ていふやう只今 爰許（こゝもと）へ
来る道に或（ある）病家に立ちより候所に日蓮宗の僧徒（そうと）
多く並居（なみい）て読経（どくきやう）することすさまじ扨は病人
埒明（らちあき）たるやとおもへばさにあらず血狂（けつきやう）の病人を
物の怪（け）成と云ひて千巻陀羅尼（せんぐはんだらに）を異口同音（いくどうおん）に
呉音鄭声（ごおんていせい）奇（き）なるこゑを張上（はりあげ）て町内もひゞく
ばかりに候ひけり何と血狂の病人を物の怪（け）にして

弟子たちの中の一人が進み出て言うには、「先ほどこちらへ来る道中で、ある病人の家に立ち寄ったところ、日蓮宗の僧侶たちが大勢並んで座り、読経していることが激しく聞こえてきました。さては病人の病気が治ったのかと思ったのですが、そうではありませんでした。血の道の病気の患者を物の怪の仕業だと言って、千巻陀羅尼を声を揃えて、呉音や鄭声という奇妙な声を張り上げて、町内にも響き渡るほどでした。どうして血の道の病気の患者を物の怪の仕業にして

One of the students stepped forward and said: "Just now, on my way here, I stopped by a certain house where there was a sick person. Many Buddhist monks of the Nichiren sect were sitting in rows, chanting sutras so intensely that it was quite overwhelming. I thought perhaps the patient had recovered, but that was not the case. They were claiming that a patient suffering from blood madness was possessed by evil spirits, and they were chanting thousand-scroll dharani in unison, raising their voices in go-on and zheng-sheng tones so strangely that it echoed throughout the entire neighborhood. Why would they treat a patient with blood madness as if possessed by evil spirits...
