あなどりて治療（ぢりやう）をあやまることあり履（くつ）ぬぎより
横（よこ）たはり寝（ね）て入／夜（よ）ふくるまで長ばなし 祝儀（しうき）婚（こん）
礼（れい）といへば一／番（ばん）にはせ参（さん）じ勝手（かつて）取持（とりもち）がほ婚礼（こんれい）の座（ざ）
席（せき）に十徳（じつとく）を着（ちやく）し小つぶりふり酒宴（しゆゑん）の興（けう）に乗じ

僻（くせ）として病用あるときはあのゝものゝといひはづし
て点（てん）にあはざるものなり 兵（へい）と醫（い）とは凶器（けうき）なりと
あれば祝儀婚礼（しうきこんれい）にはわざとならず人に殿（おくれ）てする
ぞよき音物贈答（いんぶつざうとう）衒（てれん）追従（ついしやう）する医者は疫病（やくびやう）

現代語訳
軽んじられて治療を誤ることがある。履物を脱いでから横になって寝て、夜更けまで長話をする。祝儀や婚礼となれば一番に駆け参じ、勝手を取り仕切るような顔をして、婚礼の座席で十徳を着て小器用ぶり、酒宴の興に乗じては謡を歌い、浄瑠璃を語って見苦しい体をする。このような医者の癖として、病気の治療が必要な時には「あの者のことだが」と言い訳をして、的確な治療ができないものである。兵法と医術とは凶器であるとされるから、祝儀や婚礼にはわざわざ出しゃばらず、人に遅れて参加するのがよい。贈り物のやり取りで見栄を張り、追従する医者は疫病神の末社となるであろう。

They become despised and make errors in treatment. They take off their shoes, lie down sideways, and engage in long conversations until late at night. When there are celebrations or wedding ceremonies, they rush to be the first to attend, acting as if they are in charge of arrangements. At wedding banquets, they wear formal court dress (jittoku), showing off their cleverness, and when caught up in the excitement of drinking parties, they sing noh chants and recite joruri, presenting an unseemly appearance. As a bad habit of such doctors, when medical treatment is needed, they make excuses saying "Well, that person is..." and fail to provide proper treatment. Since both military arts and medicine are said to be dangerous tools, it is better not to eagerly participate in celebrations and weddings, but to attend after others do. Doctors who show off through gift-giving and act obsequiously will become subordinate shrines to the god of pestilence.
