疱瘡神（いものかみ）の談義
濃州（じやうしう）時（とき）の郷（かう）より来れる諸生に時節（ときせつ）安（あん）とて奥（おく）
底（そこ）なき軽忽（けいこつ）なる者（わつ）問（と）ふていはく或人（あるひと）のはなし
に或者（あるもの）一人の男子（なんし）十三に成をもついたつて寵（てう）
愛（あい）はなはだし疱瘡（はうさう）にかゝれり初熱（しよねつ）より父（ちゝ）是（これ）を
いたく憂（うれひ）て神棚（かみたな）をかざり疱瘡（はうさう）の神（かみ）をまつれり
泰敬（くぎやう）はなはだしく此子の痘（とう）無難（むなん）ならしめ給へ
とて昼夜（ちうや）祈誓（きせい）せし所にいたつて悪痘（あくとう）にて

美濃国時郷から来た学生で、時節安という奥底のない軽率な者が質問して言うことには、「ある人の話によると、ある者に一人の男子があり、十三歳になるのを殊の外可愛がっていた。その子が疱瘡にかかった。初熱の時から父親はこれを大変心配して、神棚を飾り疱瘡の神を祀った。非常に恭敬して『この子の天然痘を無事にお治しください』と昼夜祈願していたところ、かえって悪性の疱瘡となり
