現代語訳
金蔵は質屋稼業で
手代たちに日々中面（帳面）を見せ、
まことに雨を飲む蛇のごとし。
年々に一駒ずつ建てるけれども、
質物の置き場所がなく、加持祈祷も
女房衆がなく稼ぐけれども、たとえ話にあるように
金の置き場所がなく、だんだんに蔵を
増やしても世話も多く、世間に類のない
ことを一工夫しようと、ここがかの病気の
持病が病み、薬の効き目確かしげ。

Kinzō runs a pawnshop business,
showing the account books to his clerks daily,
truly like a snake drinking rain.
Though he builds one storehouse each year,
there's no place to store the pawned items, and though he works hard
without sufficient female help for prayers and rituals,
as the saying goes,
there's no place to store the money, so he gradually
increases his storehouses, but the troubles also multiply. Planning to devise
something unprecedented in the world, this is where that illness—
his chronic condition—worsens, and the medicine's effect seems certain.

henceforth you fellows too
are a bother.
