それ造化（ざうくわ）のかぎりなき小見（しやうけん）をにてはかるべからず
田鼠（でんそ）化（け）して鶉（うづら）となり雀（すゞめ）水（みづ）に入て蛤（はまぐり）となり童（でつ）
奴（ち）変（へん）じて伴当（ばんとう）となり嫁（よめ）化（け）して姑（しうとめ）となる漆（うるし）
蟹（かに）を得（え）て泥（どろ）のごとく海参（なまこ）藁（わら）を得て水のごとく
大戸（じやうご）酒（さけ）に呑（のま）れて酒風漢（のたまく）となり少年（むすこ）倡妓（じよらう）
にたらされて飄客（うてんつ）と成／千変万化（せんべんばんくわ）のかぎり
なき張華（ちやうくわ）も博物（はくぶつ）の看板（かんばん）をおろし東坡（とうば）も
相感志（そうかんし）の店をたゝむ爰（こゝ）に市川雷蔵なる
者あり此者の変化（へんくわ）定（さたま）りなき其（その）源（みなもと）を尋（たつぬ）

そもそも造化の限りない変化は、人間の小さな見識では計り知ることはできない。
田鼠が変化して鶉となり、雀が水に入って蛤となり、小僧が変じて番頭となり、嫁が化けて姑となる。漆は蟹を得て泥のようになり、海参は藁を得て水のようになる。
大酒飲みが酒に飲まれて酔っ払いとなり、若い男が遊女にたらされて放蕩者となる。千変万化に限りがない。
博学で有名な張華も博物の看板を下ろし、東坡も相感志の店をたたむ。ここに市川雷蔵という者がいる。この者の変化は定まりがない。その源を尋ねると

Indeed, the limitless transformations of creation cannot be measured by human beings' small understanding.
Field mice transform into quails, sparrows enter water and become clams, servant boys change into shop managers, and brides transform into mothers-in-law. Lacquer mixed with crab becomes like mud, and sea cucumbers mixed with straw become like water.
Heavy drinkers are consumed by alcohol and become drunkards, and young men are led astray by courtesans and become libertines. There is no limit to these myriad transformations.
