【Right Page】 There are ceremonies of ritual practice (shūrei) regarding the procedures and deportment, as well as coordination meetings with the jōjiri-chū at the pilgrimage lodge (sanrōsho). The ceremony begins with advancing to the divine presence, performing the ritual practice before the御局 (administrative quarters), then proceeding to the pilgrimage lodge and entering through the eastern entrance to make announcements to the hatsunorichū (first riders). When the hatsunorichū come out to meet them, as the kaika (lower-ranking officials) enter the jōjiri (seating area), each takes their assigned seat. However, the hatsunori wait at the left and right of the threshold, and when there are greetings indicating that the kaika should advance to the middle room, they proceed and make announcements regarding coordination and other matters. (The purpose is that the horseback riding ceremony of that day should follow precedent, with victories and defeats determined through sanchi-tomoe and kozuri three rounds. Naturally, regarding victories and defeats, both left and right sides should mount and arrive under the kaika's curtained area, and matters to be announced at that time were discussed.) 【Left Page】 On the fourth day, the left and right kaika proceed to the shrine grounds to arrange and prepare the large drums, gongs, spears, and other items. (However, the left side hangs the large drums and gongs on stands, while the right side displays eight spears. The collar scarves are obtained by going to the council hall.) Early on that day, the right-side kaika proceed to the shrine grounds and have the shrine attendants erect the spears. The procedure is: first, one spear is planted under the cherry tree at the horse exit, one under the cherry tree, five in front of the temporary shrine (however, these are erected in a north-south line in front of the curtained area on the south side of the temporary shrine building; importantly, there should be a gap between the upper three and lower two of the five spears), and one under the victory tree. After the horse racing concludes, the shrine attendants transport them back to the shrine grounds as initially arranged. (However, at this time, there should be allocation among the remaining deputy officials.) Regarding the scrolls, twenty branches each are prepared by the left and right kaika, sent to the administrative building, and should be delivered to the deputy officials. (However, when the Kifune position is vacant, twenty branches each of Kifune Shrine scrolls are prepared and submitted by the deputy officials.)
